Is this normal?

Post by bonita23 »

I am 4 weeks 5 days today with my first pregnancy after IVF. I have no M/S yet, but I noticed I am hungry like every hour, but I can't eat alot when I am hungry. Also, I get so tired to the point where I can't keep my eyes open anymore. I am not complaining, I like to feel symptoms just to know this is real, but does this sound normal so early on?

From what I read, yes that sounds totally normal. Some people already have m/s. I am 4wks 4days and I don't really feel much of anything except very stuffy and a little constipated. . TMI, sorry! I'd grab a book. It gave me the wide range of possible symptoms and the more common ones. Tiredness was a common one for this stage. Good luck!

I didn't get morning sickness until this week--and I'm just about 7 weeks, so don't worry about that. The tiredness is definitely the first thing I noticed!

Totally normal - both to not have symptoms this early and to be worried about it! I didn't have symptoms until late in week 6, early in week 7 - and then, wham, I was completely nauseous until about 10 days ago! And, some ladies never get sick at all. But, it's completely normal to worry - I still do - and that's what we're all here for - to help reassure each other so we can make it through the first few months until we feel our little ones squirming and kicking us!

Congrat's on your bfp and good luck!

Thanks for the reassurance. My exhaustion is so bad that I have to pull over and take a quick nap on the way home from work. I do work 12.5 hour shifts overnight, but it was always something I have been able to handle in the past.

I am constantly worried about losing the baby. I check the TP everytime I go to the bathroom for blood I obsess about my beta numbers and I am freaking out that they will not see my gestational sack at my first ultrasound on friday. I have never had a miscarriage, but this is my first time pregnant through IVF/ICSI (first cycle). I swear to God, I won't be able to relax and believe I am pregnant until I see that head crowning!!!

Oh, Bonita...I'm the exact same. I'm so worried that something's going to happen to my baby. My mom is starting to get mad at me because she thinks I'm being too negative. I just feel like I'm being realistic. You see so many women who have miscarried....It's sooooo scary. If you discover a way to worry less, please let me know!!!!!!

Ok ladies, I think I have taken the cake! I got so worried today when a dear friend of mine told me she knew she was having a m/c when her symptoms started to go away. Well, I have barely had a slight symptom and today I feel normal so I called the Dr. and they are taking me for blood work in the morning. Isn't that horrid that I got so scared!!!!!

I don't feel any different at all! My breast are barely a tinge tender and I'm only slightly bloated now where a few days ago I was feeling much more bloated. I'm scared and nervous no matter how normal the nurse says it is. I'm worried I'll freak out like this the entire time! I need wine or to be put in a coma until October!

I am still freaking out. I had my first ultrasound today at 5 weeks 2 days and it was done so quick. The Dr. said okay, we are looking for a sac, she saw the sac real quick which was really tiny, then I had blood work too and she tells me the nurse will only call me if there is a problem. Luckily mynurse never called me. i hope this means my numbers are okay. My first beta 13 DPO was only 60 and my second at 16DPO was 163, which is good, but I just keep seeing everyone elses numbers and they are soooo much higher than mine. Honestly, if I had high numbers I would feel better. They are probably lower however, b/ it is a singleton. I am having symptoms , which is reassuring, but remember, it is still so early, not everyone has symptoms now.

next ultrasound next week, we get to see the heartbeat!

I have been feeling a huge sigh of relief when reading this as I so feel the same! Bonita I have not had any m/s yet (although have been praying for it) although could eat for Britain and also very tired! I have to eat loads of small snacks throughout the day and when I start to feel hungry I have to eat there and then or I start to get a sore tummy and feel ill! I have also been extremely thirsty and will regularly drink 3 litres of water per day and more. I too have been stressing over everything - if my symptoms are less one day I worry (like less tired or less hungry), if I fet the odd crampy feeling I'm worrying and most of all I'm so terrified of the dreaded m/c, constantly checking the loo roll ! I also keep pinching my boobs to see if they still feel sore as they don't feel as sore as they did to start with. I have the heart beat u/s on Tuesday and keep worrying about them not finding anything ....... oh god please someone come up with some kind of pil which takes the worry away. And we can't even drink to numb the worry!

I am 5wks2days as well and I dont' get my u/s until the 22nd! :( The curiosity is killing me! From what you wrote it sounds like your Dr. is kind of matter-of-fact and kind of just going throught the motions because he's seen it so many times before. Thank goodness you never got the dreaded call. Things must be as expected. When is your next ultrasound? Also, when is your due date? Mine is Oct. 11th.

All the waiting just gets me all riled up!

Girls,

Please try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done but positivity will help you in the long run. Remember all pregnancies are different, even no 2 pregnancies in the same women will be the same.
Not having any symptoms doesn't mean bad stuff. I have 5 sisters that have produced 13 children between them and none of them had morning sickness. I am the first one to have it.

I've had 2 major miscarriages before and 1 smaller one at 5 weeks and believe me I won't let it get to me and take away what could be the most precious moment in my life.

Kholtan,
There are 3 Dr.s at the fertility center I go to. One is my actual Dr., but they take turns every week doing the ultrasounds. This one is my least favorite. The other 2 are great, explain everything and take their time.

I kind of wish they didn't do ultrasounds so early, it makes you worry too much! They do one at 5 weeks, 6 weeks and 7 weeks, hen release you to your normal OB. Next week we should see a heartbeat, which hopefully will be reassuring.

We are due one day apart from eachother! I am due Oct. 10th. October is a great month I think. Here in NJ, it's not too cold, not to hot, no holidays and I don't have any family birthdays in that month! I can't wait until October is here!

Bonita~
October in NJ is so pretty! I use to live in Long Island and NYC so it's very similar. You'll be able to have beautiful b-day parties outside! And just think, our holiday cards can have great fall pictures on them with little notes on the back about how the baby just turned one or two! My DH's B-day is in Oct. and he has the greatest personality. I'm not into signs or anything but in this case it would be nice for them to be alike. DH is patient and ambitious. Very detail oriented and has a great sence of humor. My mother-in-law also said he was a baby full of laughs and very content. October is perfect isn't it!!!!!!

Seems so far away right now!
