Approaching my first cycle too xx

Post by katew »

Hi I've been waiting to start mt first cycle for 2 1/2 years, and am starting next tuesday!! have been a complete wreck but am ok at the moment i think emotionally this whole process is a roller coaster ride. I too have lot's of friends who are pregnant or have new babies infact I became an aunty three weeks ago, it's hard but intsead of feeling bad remember it's your baby that you want. I am taking some comfort that a major piece of advice is that during a cycle we MUST take care of ourselves xx

fist IVF next week

Post by hhb »

Hello -

I am new to this as well and am just happy to find someone else who is going through this now. Just had 3 failed IUIs and will be doing my first IVF next week sometime. I have a 5 year old son and have lost two babies in the past three years. None of us are getting any younger so I'm really hoping this works before I totally give up on adding to our family. I'm thinking positive thoughts and praying for all of you out there, and I'm glad to find someone to chat with. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic about the IVF - can't get my hopes too high because the crash down is hard!

The IVF process is so difficult and the drugs certainly don't help. Just try and relax as best you can and focus on what you want to get from the process.Take it one step at a time. I've been working on one month at a time. I am also not putting my life on hold for the process. I am still making plans, planning vacations, etc. I think if you put your life completely on hold, it creates so much stress and pressure that your body doesn't need.

I had my first transfer with ICSI yesterday and am on bedrest. It is definitely a tough wait, but am trying to keep busy doing what I like and praying for the best.

PMA all the way xx

Post by katew »

Hi all,

Just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing, I started down reg injections on Tuesday, so far so good, funny dreams last night but thats probably just the whole situation rather than the drugs.

Sharron: not sure if you have posted updates elsewhere? but noticed it's your test date tomorrow - good luck xxx

Kim0907 - how are you feeling after transfer?? hope we get to that stage but it must be such a scary time

hhb - have you started yet?? let us know your dates

Chvonne - hope your not feeling so stressed, did you find any of the tips we chatted about. Today I have just read that herbal tea is not recommended!! stay strong your on your way xx

Jenn - your a sweetie for posting kind words

It would be great to hear from you ladies, my DP is v supportive but I think I am becoming an IVF bore when with friends .... anyone else? finding it hard to think about anything else.
Good luck all, thinking of you xx

Hi Chvonne, I am a bit behind you expecting my AF next Tuesday, I have been giving myself the shots every evening which has been fine (surprisingly) and I guess feels like being a bit more proactive than the one shot you had. Hang in there if you are delayed by a couple of days at least you will know the drugs are working as they should!!!

My mood has been ok(ish) so far, DP is the one with mood swings! but like I said to Jenn haven't really got space in my brain for ANYTHING else, keep telling myself this is the easy bit so trying to embrace it, we've waited so long to get this far just pleased we can give it a go. Am trying to follow all the advice I've been given, have booked in for a few acupuncture sessions, anything that may help eh! DP is off on a business trip for most of next week and my mother has decided to visit, she's sure to take my mind off things!

I've got my fingers crossed for you, sure we're gonna be fine xx

Hello i've just finished my first IVF, and am now waiting the 2 weeks before i can do my test. I found my hormones were completely out of control, whilst taking the drugs although i did perk up and feel better once i started on the injections which is a bit weird as i;m terrified on needles!! I know how your all feeling its like you want it yesterday, i've turned into a bit of a nightmare and this is all i can think about. Although i'm at risk of OHSS, and i do look about 4 months pregnant at the mo with the swelling in my stomach. But defo will be worth it in the end.. Wishing you all lots of luck.xxx

Hello -

Just responding to Kate's email when asking several of us how we're doing. It's so nice to have people ask (to whom I don't mind answering, unlike others i.e., some family members, etc) ! I had my egg retrieval Saturday and go back tomorrow for the embryo transfer. I guess I didn't have 6 top quality embryos for the day 5 transfer. I'm okay with that, though, although a little nervous that they want to transfer 3, when my RE initially told me 2. My DH does NOT want multiples, especially triplets. I think eventually he'd be okay with twins, but three is alot (we have a 5 year old already). I know the odds are not in my favor of having three, so that's okay, but it's still nerve wracking.

Anyways, I don't know when my blood test will be. Is it usually 14 days from when you have the egg retrieval? I'm not sure but will certaily find out tomorrow. I did not anticipate being as nervous as this - the IUI's were not this nerve wracking.

Thanks for asking, and good luck to you all out there. I'll keep reading and hoping to find great positive stories.

-Heidi
PS - I hate to sound ignorant, but what does BFN and BFP stand for? I get the negative/positive, and I think B is for beta...Thanks!

Hey girls,

wow teen and hhb both in the two week wait, I have seriously got everything crossed for you and will be praying for a BFP (big fat positive) for both of you. Remember now is the time to kick back and relax!

Chvonne has AF been to visit yet?? I am due to tomorrow but don't feel like it's anywhere near, using the time to get busy at home (decorated the bathroom this weekend!) especially as I know if things go as planned I may not feel like doing to much soon and then won't be allowed to!.

take care all,
K xx
