1st embryo transfer and going crazy

Post by kez01 »

Hi my name is kerry and I live in the UK, I had my first embryo transfer on 7th feb and have gone into the second week.

I got 4 eggs only, they all fertilized and were all grade 1 therefore we were able to freeze 2. This second week is really hard. I feel like my period is imminent and beginning to loose all hope. I know this is our first try and the stats are not very good.

I'm having cramps all the time. I think this site is great as I see lots of other people with the same feelings, would be great to talk to someone.

Hi,
Hope all is well...try to do something that keeps your mind busy while you don't know what is going on with your body.
You have a lot of hormones in your body and no signal is to be interpreted this or that way. Keep your mind on something that requires thinking and movemtne at the same time (sudoku, knitting, etc). Give Nature a chance to be.
Best wishes, Literatriz

Hi Kerry,

I am also having bad cramping that started about 4dp3dt and have become progressively worse. I don't test unitl Tuesday and am quite worried but everyone on the board tells me that is is natural to cramp and that many had AF type cramping when they were pregnant. Just try to not let it get to you and stick it out. I know that is harder than it sounds! I am going crazy myself! Good luck.

Hi girls

thanks for the support, i have been reading lots and have started to go out for short walks too. I have stupidly done the hpt and it was negative which has just confirmed to me that I'm not pregnant. I am not going to do one now until thursday when they have told me to. I do wish I could just go to work and have my blood test done and put me out of my misery. I'm a nurse and I should know better but hey ho.

Today my tummy isn't cramping so bad and my boobs aren't sore anymore I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

I wish you both luck in your attempts to get a baby and it is really nice to talk to you.

Thanks Kerryx

KEZ1,
Hey there, I was just going through messages and came across yours. I too am a nurse going through IVF (donor eggs). I hope you know you tested too early with the HPT. If you read more of the messsages on the boards you will see many women have had a BFN with HPT and then got a BFP with the blood test! If your transfer was the 7th you still have 3 more days to go till your test. I myself refuse to POAS (pee on a stick) this time. Hang in there and be positive. However if it does turn out to be a BFN, then you can try again with your 2 frozens. It will happen for you.

Warm wishes,
Schel

Hi Shel

Thankyou so much for your really kind message, I know I was silly to test so early but I seem to have lost my mind.

I was beginning to think positive and was ignoring all my symptoms but I have just started to bleed, so I know that is it now.

Yes you are right I do have 2 frozen embryos and I think I'm definitely going to need them.

I am so sorry to hear you had to have chemo and you have been through ivf before. I wish you all the luck with your treatment now, I will keep everything crossed for you.
Thanks again for your support.

KEZ01,
I'm so sorry to hear you recieved a visit from AF(Aunt Flow) :( . Are you sure it's AF or possible implantation bleeding? Will they still do a blood test about the 21? Some women still do bleed a little in beginning even when pregnant. I'm not giving up hope for your BFP until you tell me it's a definate BFN from your blood test. I'll be hear for ya! and thank YOU for your kind words and support for me too.

Sincerly,
Schel

Hi Schel

I thought I was certain it was my AF as my period normally starts with a bit of spotting and then the heavens open on the 2nd day. This morning I still only have a slight spotting, but my tummy hurts more like it is a normal AF. I am so confused and frightened to even let myself think that it could be an implantation bleed.

Unfortunately over here in england and in my clinic they ask us to do a HPT they dont do a blood test, so even though I have had a bleed I will still have to POAS on thursday and let the clinic know the result.

How is your 2ww going anyway. I hope your little frozen babies stick, what date do you have your test?
I never realised how hard the 2ww would be. My sister had ivf last year, she already has 2 children but has a new partner and he had mumps as a child, so they needed icsi. She started to bleed 2 days before the test and it didn't work for her, she did tell me the wait is terrible but I dont think you realise till your there.

I'm going to my friends for lunch now and for a chat.
You take care and keep me posted with your progress.
thanks so much

The hpt is not nearly as sensitive as the blood test, so it usually takes a little longer to get a positive test with the hpt, since you must wait until levels rise higher. Probably everybody here knows this already.

Kez01,
Yes this 2 week wait is not fun! It may be it's good your AF is only spotting. Question? Are you taking progestrone? That sucks you can't take a blood test. Anyway, I did some research on the HPTs and the levels they detect. Check out this web site and it list the different types and amount of hormone it needs to detect pregnancy

http://www.babyhopes.com/pregnancy-test ... ivity.html
(I hope this helps. and I'm praying for you that it will be a BFP!)

I have awhile to go yet, I have to wait till the 2nd of March. I woke up this morning bummed that they didn't implant. I know it's just an irrational thought and there is no reason I should think this way. I think if I get a BFN this time I will take a break and work an assignment with my agency for 12 to 15 weeks before I try again with a new donor. Sorry I'm being negative, I'm just having an off Day. I need to talk my self out of this!!!!

Thanks for that.

Those detection limits look pretty optimistic.

Well it is a BFN for me this cycle. I am hoping to start again soon but am having a hard time dealing with the feelings of frustration and defeat. Any words of wisdom?

Hi Schel,

I'm sorry your having a bad day, I certainly know where your coming from, try to keep your chin up, I'm sure one of those little frozen babies will have stuck, I'm certainly praying for you that they have.

Thanks for the website girls, I checked it out and the test kit they gave me at the clinic was on the list and detected at 25. I contacted my clinic yesterday to tell them what was going on. They said that the cyclogest suppositories can make your period slow in coming as essentially your body is used to a lower level of progesterone, therefore your body kind of thinks your pregnant so you dont bleed the same.

They told me to do a test this morning and I have and BFN, so I am to discontinue the cyclogest. No luck this time. :(

I think the fact that I have 2 frozen embryos to use is keeping me from breaking down, I dont really want to face the fact that they might not work either. I'm feeling sad but also looking to the future and trying to think positive.

It certainly is a long a weary road this infertility, 6 months of clomid and 1 failed ivf, I suppose i shouldnt complain as from looking at this site I can see people alot worse off.

Thinking of you Schel and look forward to your BFP on the 2nd of march.

Hi Geckogirl
I'm sorry to hear of your BFN, I know exactly how your feel, I dont really have any words of wisdom as this was my first go at IVF. Just try to think positive and look to the future, let yourself get over this cycle and come to terms with what i feel is a loss and then pick yourself up and decide if you want another try.

take care
