HPT

Post by kim0907 »

I broke down and took a hpt a little while ago (FRER). It was negative. I had my retrieval on 2/13 and my transfer of 3 embryos on 2/15. I am scheduled to have my first beta on Monday. I have been cramping mildly and have had light brown mucousy type discharge on and off for the last 12 hours. My RE doubled my progestrone shots to 3cc/day and my estrace pills to 2x a day after putting me on them on Wed because my progestrone and Estradiol were both low.

I should be able to get a positive HPT by now (10 days post retrieval and 8 days post transfer), shouldn't I? I should have waited for the beta on Monday, but just couldn't take the wait anymore.

Thanks for all you guys help and advice, I really appreciate it.

wait

Post by denee »

Hey Kim,

I would wait...last cycle I did a hpt 11 days post transfer, then went to doctor to have a 12 post transfer test. It was postivie in my blood work. My beta was low at 10 and ended up being a chemical pg.

HOWEVER, the doctors office did tell me that MANY women with these low, low beta carry babies to full term with success. Just wait.....

I know it crazy process....I had a transfer yesterday and already couting down to when I can take an hpt myself. Hoping and praying the floating embryos attach...guess they take up to 3-4 days to implant in the lining of the uterus.

Take Care...

It's still too early to be sure of anything on an hpt.

I tested on an FRER 8dp3dt and got a negative....I later got a positive on an FRER (so light I could barely see it) and the next day 9dp3dt on my first beta, my hcg level was 50.....so the FRER, which should detect an hcg level down to 25, barely even registered the 50....

Bottom line, you're early, so you may still be in the timeframe where you can get a false negative.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you'll get the bfp on Monday!

HPT

Kim,
I know it's hard to wait, we are in the same stuggle, but I ask you to just wait for the beta or closer to beta test. This is the reason. HPT measure how much HCG is in your system. The HCG is only released after implantation, a 2DT might be 3-4 days till implantation. So if you transfered on the 15th and implatation took place on the 19th. your only 6 days making HCG and might not be enough to detect with HPT. Also, most HPTs you get in the store need 50 - 100 mUI of HCG to be detected. You can get higher sensitivity tests, but most of them are only available online. Here is a web site for the different types of tests and their sensitivity.

My opinion is, Wait for the beta test! Don't waste your money and spare your emotions. This is a hard emotional rollar coster and we are all here for you to keep you strong. If you already took the test and it was neg. Don't believe it yet!

Hang in there :!:
