Flying with injectibles?

I need to do just carry on on an upcoming trip - if I bring a doctor's notice, will they allow me to carry on Lupron?

I have had to fly with injectibles several times while cycling. This is what i have learned (only applicable if you are in the us... don't know where you are located). You can look up the tsa carry on guidelines... i print them out and bring a copy with me in case the tsa ever gives me a bad time. If you are just taking lupron... a copy of the prescription label and/or a letter from your RE about the lupron should do it. I have had to travel with stims, including ones that need to be refrigerated (used small cooler with gel packs), and as long as i followed the tsa guidelines... had not a problem. Good luck!

Thank you for replying sassy. Good luck on your upcoming IVF - this could be the one! I am about to start my first. It's so hard to have faith that anything will work. We have unexplained infertility and it doesn't make much sense that all the other methods didn't work, so I'm not sure why this would.

Do you find a way to stay hopeful? I try to suspend hope.

wannabeone: ahhhh, well... my state of hopefulness vascillates greatly depending on the day and where in cycling i am! I work hard to keep hope... although i am not always good at positive thinking. In fact... my motto has been "Hope for the best and prepare for the worst", and in general it works quite well for me.... with the exception of the 2ww... during which anyone who has cycled with me can tell you i am a total wreck . Hi there...I am so glad that I saw this post because I too, was wondering the same thing.

I am on Day 1 and have an appointment with my Dr Wednesday morning to discuss my medication, injections, etc. I am traveling on business starting Thursday morning and will be traveling with my boss (which he knows nothing about the procedure). I am going to need to travel through 3 different cities in 5 days. I will only have carry on luggage.

I am so scared-- 1st about giving myself these injections and 2nd) that they are going to stop me and search me in front of my boss with all of these needles. I am a very private person...and do not want to have to put this off another month either.

Can you explain the typical schedule in regards to the medication you have to take. When do you start taking the injections, how many injections a day and for how many days? What day do you start...Day 3, Day 5? I received my box of medications and am overwhelmed with how much medicine I am going to need to take.

ll0615: yep, that box of meds sure can be overwhelming, no? What and how often you take the meds will vary depending on your protocol. I think the key will be organization! Chances are, the meds won't need refrigeration, so hopefully that will make it easier. If i were you, separate everything into different small ziplocs in terms of what time of day you will need them... then put all that into a bigger ziploc. Make sure you take proof with you that this is a medical necessity (RE letter, prescription labels...) and keep all that in your handbag so you can pull it out through at x-ray. Again, check out that tsa site, it spells everything out that you have to do. Now not sure how you will be able to do this with boss not seeing... may be a bit tricky. oh, btw... most women stim for 8-10 days of injections before trigger. good luck!
