I'm 40, and just finished my first round of IVF, and only 1 egg was transfered. Does anyone have positive success stories to share? I had 7 eggs retrieved, but only 3 were mature, and 1 fertilized. At day 3 it was 7 cells.... i want to hear encouragement.
3 attempts at IVF
1st attempt cancelled due to poor response
2nd attempt resulted 1 egg fertilized
3rd attempt, changed clinics, 9 mature eggs, 9 fertilized, 5 transfered at Day 3, pregnant!
Well, I'm not sure how encouraging this will be because it sounds like we're pretty much in the same boat but I just wanted to let you know that I too just had one embryo transferred (this morning)! I never had more than one follicle/egg from the start but we've been praying like crazy and so far, so good! As of today (day 1), it's 4 cells : ) Best of luck to you!
I had one embryo put in after an FET cycle and I got pregnant. There are many many people who get pregnant with only one embryo transferred. In fact my clinic will only put in one at a time unless there are special circumstances.
Hopeful and Smith, yes, there is lots of hope. With my first IVF, I had 5 eggs retrieved, only 1 was mature enough to fertilize, it fertilized and I got pg so there is hope. hang in there and keep the faith.

1st IVF/ICSI Dec '06 (1 embie)-BFP, m/c 8wks
2nd IVF/ICSI May '07-BFP! It's a GIRL!
Like Jovial said there is hope. I had 8 follicles which produced 5 eggs. Of the five eggs, only 2 made it to fertilization. Only one split and we put it back right away. I am now pregnant with our little girl and she is in perfect health thus far. In a normal ovulation, there is usually only one egg released and many women do get pregnant that way. God has his ways.
I had one embryo transferred on my first attempt at IVF. I got pregnant. Unfortunately I m/c. Then on my second attempt (FET cycle) I transfered on embryo and got pregnant again, only to m/c again. This was my third attempt. I transfered one embryo (it worked the other times) and I got a BFP AGAIN!! I don't have my u/s until April 2nd but so far so good.
My best friend conceived her little girl with only a single embryo transfer and her 1st attempt at IVF.
I had 4 eggs retreived 3 fertilized 2 made it to blasts and only had one transfered and I got a BFP this is my first cycle also, So hang in there sweetie It only takes one!! I was upset at first because I only put back one I wanted both but DH rationalized that we did not want twins. So the other one is frozen for us to use later!!
Good Luck
everyone on here is so right it does only take one that is what my re says to me all the time you just have to keep the faith and pray its all into gods hands
