Twins from FET?

Looking for any thoughts/ suggestions around how many eggs I should use in my upcoming FET? It's on 4/13 (Yikes, Friday the 13th!).

They are frozen at 5 day blast stage in 2002. We used 2 in January with no luck. I have 3 left and I want to use them all, but my husband is really worried about potential twins or even triplets. Has anyone out there had multiples from FET?

I'm afraid that if we only use 2 that I'm going to have to go through all this stress again for one single embryo if this time doesn't work. Help!

Pregnancy rates are lower with FET and only 70% even survive thaw. There is a chance of twins/triplets but these rates are lower than they are with fresh. I would go for 3. I recently had a failed FET with 2 blasts....that was all I had left. Now I'm having to go through IVF again

Recently one of the ladies (Langton) has given birth to two lovely twin girls and they were FET. So it is very possible but if it helps have a look in your family because the maternal side dictates if twins are likely not paternal. I only recently found this out myself (after conceiving twins). My sister has identical twins and some ladies have a genetic ability to implant two embryos at the same time and some do not. So if there is no multiples on your side, I would say go for it and take the risk.

Hi torrie, good luck with your upcoming FET. I am now PG with twins by FET. This was my 2nd FET. I had 1 failed fresh cycle and 1 failed FET previously. You should ask your RE what their success rate for FET is. every clinic is different. My RE told me a success rate of "nearly 50%" (better than fresh) when I had my 1st FET. It just so happens that my current cycle was a research cycle and 90% of the women involved became PG. That's very high, however I don't know how many women participated. My DH did meet another woman from my clinic who participated and is also PG w/twins. The protocol for this FET cycle is not being done anywhere else and was very different than my 1st FET.

Thanks for your insight. I was surprised when my first two thawed successfully b/c I've heard that about 50% won't survive the thaw. With my fresh cycle, I used two embryos and they both took, but I lost one around 8 weeks.

I guess we'll thaw the last 3 and use whatever is viable. Wish me luck!
