IVF in New Jersey???

Post by noodle »

I'm going to be switching DR's on my next cycle. Does anyone in NJ have any recommendations? Looking at both RMA and The Diamond Institute, any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

RMA is not for everyone...

If you are a difficult case, I wouldn't go to RMA. They are good for standard cookie-cutter cases (under 35 with no big issues etc). I did 2 fresh cycles with them last year (I was 39 when I started) and both failed. Right after the first failed, I started getting the Donor Eggs speech saying my eggs were not good. I didn't even bother to do a recap after the second one.

Since then, I have learnt that they do not like to ruin their stat numbers with difficult cases like mine (unexplained IF - everything is fine, no Endo, no PCOS, no MF, tubes fine etc etc).

I went to CCRM in Denver. Did their one day work-up and was getting ready to start IVF #3 in April. They made me do a Clomid challenge test in February. And guess what? I'll be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow - on my own, without IVF. So, RMA's diagnosis of my eggs being rotten was absolutely incorrect.

I have learnt since then that they did the same to other difficult cases that have had 2 or more failures with them.

If I were you, I'd check out clinics that specialize in whatever is causing your IF and go to them, without attention to where they are located. Try out Cornell if you have to be around NJ - they have no trouble taking challenging cases and are considered the topmost (along with CCRM denver) lab in the US.

Also check out IVFconnections.net boards - go to IVF by location and go to NJ. There are a couple of threads there on RMA NJ (pros and cons).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

ka- thank you for your response and congratulations! I am always hoping to gett prg natural. If we don't continue with our current DR we will probably go to the Diamond Institute. Unfortunately I've heard only bad things about RMA. Thanks again and GL with your pregnancy, enjoy!
