Egg retrieval through the uterine rather than vaginal wall

Post by rockrat71 »

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the board but not to infertility. I had a cancelled IVF last year, got pg on my own a few months later but miscarried and am now about to embark on IVF again. My problem is severe endometriosis and the location of my ovaries are high up and they float behind my uterus. My RE says he can see them just fine on the u/s but that he'll have to go through the uterus wall rather than the vaginal wall to retrieve them. He didn't seem concerned by this but from what I can find online it seems rare and painful. Has anyone had retrieval through the uterine wall? Can you share your experience with me? Thanks for your help! :D

Hi there, I'm not sure if its the same thing but I had EC/ET through the uterus - it was called transmyometrial ET - is this what you're talking about. I had this under general aesthetic in the UK 2 years ago.
Me 35, DH 34, TTC 8 years
Unexplained - awkward cervix!
1st IVF March '05 - OHSS after EC - all embryos frozen - No embryo transfer
FET May/June '05 -ve
GIFT March '07 BFN
FET ZIFT in July '07
