Tight Clothes

Post by daniellewngs »

Just wondering when you started to notice your clothes were feeling a bit snug. I will be 11 weeks this Saturday and already started to buy maternity clothes that I could not resist (sundresses, capris, shorts) clothes that don't look like tents and are actually very flattering. They are to big to wear now, but I will need them eventually. I have noticed I can't button my skinny jeans anymore and most of my pants that use to require a belt are now snug without wearing one. Are my clothes tight cause I am eating to much, or is this about the norm.

No, you aren't eating too much, you are just getting ready to have a baby! I was swollen after IVF and had trouble wearing my "skinny jeans" right away. I say go for it, but within reason. I bought a few basics (like a pair of jeans and a couple of shirts) that I could wear as I grew. I was wearing them at 10 weeks. I am hoping they will be used again in the transition after the baby comes. Afterall, it will take us a little while to fit back into those skinny jean! It is important for you to be comfortable.

Hey Danielle~

You sound about normal to me but this is my first time around so take it for what it's worth. I am 15.5 weeks pg with twins and just last weekend started to notive my clothes getting uncomfortably snug in the waist. My shape is changing more than my weight so it's hard to tell. Most people say they get bigger quicker if it's their second baby but on your first I think it jsut varies. Everyone has such different bodies.

No matter, good luck with your pregnancy and I'm sure you'll look adorable in your new clothes this summer!
Take care~

I am 12 weeks, and I have been wearing maternity clothes since week 5. My stomach was really big, and bloated. I couldn't buy a bigger size because otherwise I was in + sizes, and they looked horriable on me. So I bought maternity clothes size L that I can wear now because they aren't too big, and xL for later. After reading everything, I thought it was way to early for me for all of this, I don't know if it was because I am short or what. But I haven't really gained, only about 3 pounds. So I know it isn't that. Sometimes I think it has to do with IVF, I know others have experienced this. SO I wonder if it is it. Because others don't have this.

I noticed my clothes getting tight on the waist around week 9. I would walk around with all of my pants unbuttoned all day long.

A friend gave me some maternity clothes last week and that was it for me. I'm 13 1/2 weeks now and wear maternity clothes just becuase they are so much more comfortable. I haven't gained a single pound yet, but my shape changed.

My stomach was sticking out a lot for the last 5 or 6 days (I think as your uterus grows, some of your organs needs to shift a bit and that was causing my bulge - the baby is still very low - I know that from the heart beat monitor). I woke up this morning and my stomach is a bit smaller again. Baby is fine - strong heartbeat so I assume my insides are still shifting.

I had a tilted uterus - my utuerus started moving forward last week (the dr said) so that may have pushed other things around as it moved).

Good luck!

I had to wear loose clothes from the begining. I was on estrogen and projesterone suppliment for the first 3 weeks and I know estrogen causes your waist to thicken quite a bit. I was also a skinny one before but always liked to wear lose comfortable clothing. So, I did not even fight it.

Hi I had natural iui and started to feel my clothes getting tight around week 9. By week 12 I had started to leave some of my work trousers unbuttoned. I am now 17.5 weeks and barely fit my hipster jeans. I have put on 11lbs. I bought my first pair of mateniry jeans last week. They are "early term" so have hidden elastic and jersey trim round the front so will expand with me" Dh says they look just like my normal jeans when a top is covering the waist band.

I think it is natural that all of ou IVF ladies will feel it sooner due to bloating caused by the drugs.
