I have a few days to decide whether I am going to donate some of my eggs. It is not an easy decision for me. I am not sure whether with the Modern Medicine, donation is considered to be a sin? I am a strong believer (Christian orthodox) and if it is, I will never be able to donate even if I want to help other people. Has anybody had concerns like these? Is it a sin? Thanks
as someone who may need to take this route, i consider the gift of egg donation the kindest and most selfless act anyone could do for another person. I'm not religeous but couldn't understand how this wonderful act for another human being could be a sin. It just wouldn't make sense.
Good luck with your decision, I think it's lovely that you are even thinking about it.
Op~ I totally agree with Rebecca 100%. Egg donation is a very generous and heartfelt gift that will never be forgotten. I admire your compassion and understanding of those who are unable to use their own eggs. From a christian stand point perhaps your church leader would provide you with some comfort on the matter.
Either way, your heart is in the right place. Take care~

Thank you for your honest replies.
Unfortunately, after speaking with a Father, it is considred a sin to donate eggs or semen. If anybody shares the views like me, the following information may be useful before deciding in this delicate matter:
“You must not give your emission as semen to the wife of your associate to become unclean by it.” (Leviticus 18:20). The underlying principle is this: A man’s semen should not be used to inseminate anyone other than his wife, and a woman should not bear a child for someone other than her own husband. In other words, the reproductive powers are not to be used for someone other than one’s marriage mate. True Christians, therefore, avoid surrogate motherhood as well as any procedures that involve the use of donated sperm, eggs, or embryos.
Um...better perhaps to say "Christians who believe this" instead of "true Christians". There are many Christians who believe wholeheartedly that egg and sperm donation are just fine (and the whole saved-by-grace-not-works thing that wipes out the Old Testament prohibitions, like separate milk and meat dishes and suchlike, making Christians Christians and not bound by the Jewish canon of laws.) However of course if something goes against your personal beliefs there is certainly no reason to try to make you do it or to try to make yourself crazy by "talking yourself into it" and I would not want to do so either. The important thing is that YOU feel comfortable with your decision based on what YOU believe, not what I or anyone else believes.
I agree with ironlady. We are no longer under the law of the old testament for when Christ came, he did away with the law. The way the "law" was, if you broke any one point of the law you were guilty of all of them. I dare say there's a "christian" out there today that can say they obey every law of the old test. Do what YOUR heart tells you, communicate with your God by prayer and you'll have your answer.
