This is my first time on the message boards. I have been reading them for months now but finally built up the courage to actually post.
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 6 years now. We did IVF in February and had successful results. Pregnancy went fine until my 8th week. I had gone in the Monday for an U/S and we heard the heartbeat - - it was awesome! However, 4 days later I passed large amounts of blood and a blood clot. I went in for another ultrasound the next day & things looked fine. Could not find a reason for the bleeding, but the baby was doing great.
Since then I have had this happen to me two more times, once @ 11 wks and again today @ 13 weeks. I have since been told that I have a subchorionic bleed.
Has anyone ever heard of this or experienced this? My doctor doesn't seem too concerned with it. He said it should just go away over time and it isn't affecting the baby. However, I read on the internet (which I shouldn't have done) that it can sometimes cause the placenta to detach causing a spontaneous abortion.
My ultrasound looked great today. Baby was very active, heartbeat was fine and things are developing on schedule.
Sorry for the long post. But I was hoping someone could offer me some encouragement. This has been such a long journey for us & I can't help but worry that something bad is going to come of this.
hi shaunie
i am sorry for what you are going trough.i don't know that much about your problem but all i can say is that you need to take a deep breath and not think about it i know it is hard but being stresed can cause more harm toyou and you baby. but remmember if you don't trust you dr you can allways get a second opinion. are you still going to your ivf dr?
i will pray for you and your little baby.
love

I have a friend who is currently 37 weeks pregnant who has been having large bleeds the whole way through her pregnancy. It started at around 12 weeks and as she had miscarried before they expected the worst. But the baby, a boy, is fine and has continued to grow as he should. She had the odd bleed up until 24 weeks when they started happening every week. Sometimes she was loosing up to a cup of blood. We both work in an xray practice so are able to ultrasound ourselves whenever we want and we have never found a cause for her bleeding. The placenta always looks healthy and attached.
Marg is going to has a Caesar this week as they dont want to leave her go full term in case the placenta does break down but otherwise it has been a healthy pregnancy.
I hope this eases your mind a little. Try to trust your doctor, and stay away from those internet sites - they always give worse case scenario! I'm sure that they will monitor you extremely closely if there is even the slightest risk that bub will come to some harm.
Best of luck and congrats to being sucessful first time round (I was too!)
