Hello,
I am just looking for advise here. I have a very bad case of OHSS, my retrieval was on mon the 23rd and trasfer was on the 26th and I don't think I have ever been in so much pain since retrieval in my life!
I can barely walk, i am bloated, it is hard for me to breath and today i was vomiting all day and had horrible stomach aches, I can't drink or eat anything because right after i vomit and have sharp pains.
Has anyone else experienced ohss that bad and what did you do?
Thank you so much
vlada.
I took pepto bismol today and it didn't work
You need to IMMEDIATELY call you doctor or go straight into your clinic. OHSS can be very serious, requiring hospitalization. I had a mild case and still needed medical attention with an IV. Some ladies spend several days in the hospital. DO NOT DELAY getting treatment.
On a great note... OHSS after transplant usually means a bfp!!
Yes. What EYCI said. OHSS is very serious. Get treatment, and keep your doctor fully informed.
If it persists to the end of this week, then you are probably pregnant.
At this time, you are three days after blast transfer. Those embryos would have implanted around yesterday, and can't produce a detectable level of hCG yet, so your current OHSS is from your hCG trigger shot. If it persists to the end of the week, then congratulations will be in order. You'll be miserable, but pregnant.
hi vlada,
i hope you feel better. i have no idea abt ohss. but looks like by reading reviews from other peopl, ohss means BFP.so just relax and think positive, this time will pass away and you will start feeling better.

Hello,
I just came back from the emergency room, where I spent 8 hours with different kinds of IVs, ultrasounds and other good stuff, i am definitely feeling better now, but i am so scared that it will come back, i really really hope it won't.
Thank you guys for such great support

Thank you for replies, i think that i am probably not pregnant, i just can't imagine getting pregnant after being so sick, my body probably rejected my poor embryos. I am testing on may 8th, but i am not very optimistic about it

I am rather new to the thread but I am just getting over OHSS. I have no more bloating or pain and I think my ovaries are just about thier normal size. I was lucky enough to not have to go to the hospital but I was monitored at our clinic every other day. After my ER, I immediately had OHSS but not severe enough for them not to do the transfer. 2 days later, I felt great- 3 days later I was sick as a dog. I went in and had U\S and there was one little embie growing and they said OHSS would not have come back if I was not pregnant. They did an early HCG and yep, I was pregnant! The good news is- you are most likely pregnant and the OHSS does not harm the embryo. Some women feel better sooner, and others later- depends on the severity of the OHSS.
I so feel your pain as I have never been so uncomfortable! I missed almost 2 days of work because of it. Drink gatorade and keep your salt intake down as salt makes you retain water and you don't want that. If the pain in unbearable- ask for a mild pain killer like vicodin- very safe (in moderate amounts) to take during pregnancy. We find out on May 9th how many are in there (they only saw one at the time but who knows!
Holly,
Thank you so much for your reply it gives me sooo much hope!!!Congratulations on your little embie and I hope everything is going great for you!!
I also noticed that you are from Washington ( i hope state) i live in washington too ( Kirkland)

Vlada:
I just wanted you to know that I also had OHSS that got worse after transfer. My RE told me the same thing as Holly. I had a BFP!
Hang in there, I know it is awful. The gatorade does help.
Sending you baby dust.
