Sex of baby?

So, how true are those old wives tales? Has anyone ever had a baby when they had all the signs of one sex, but it turned out to be the other? I'm really curious.

I'm not really into this, so I don't remember what the signs they went by were. But my entire pregnancy people told me I was having a boy. The way I carried, what the Chinese calendar (or something) says based on my age, conception date, etc. A woman I work with swears she can always tell and continued to tell me that it was a boy even when I told her the ultrasounds were clear it was a girl. She kept telling me to be ready to be surprised.

Despite months of "that is clearly a boy" from people I ran into I delivered a beautiful baby girl who is now 2 1/2 years old.

So from my perspective, don't believe any of that stuff.

It's very unnerving because everybody always wants to guess. And they tell you all the reasons why they think you're one way or the other. I'm glad to hear about someone who didn't match all the silly "predictions".

Suddenly your body isn't yours if you are pregnant. Everyone has advise. Everyone know more than you do. But the weirdest thing is suddently strangers think it is OK to touch your stomach.

Yep, couple of women did touch my tummy. These days, I mostly stay at home. So, it doesn't happen as much any more.

I'm only 13 weeks and my stomach just looks like I've eaten a seriously big lunch, ie fat and bloated rather than pregnant - yet someone still rubbed it the other day, yeuch!

I read an article where some doctors studied the heart beat theory, low = boy, high = girl (after 16 wks). And the scientific study showed the old wives tale to be rubbish.

Good luck with your guesses. Do you plan to find out before the baby's born?

The ring test was incorrect. It showed circles and to the women at work that meant boy. I gained weight all over, but it is mostly low and straight out. The Chinese Chart said boy and it IS a boy!! I think all those things have a 50/50 chance, but my gut said boy and I wasn't all surprised!
