Did anyone do Home Pregnancy Tests??

Hello All ~ I was lucky enough to have a successful IVF cycle last year which resulted in a beautiful baby girl. Now we are trying to give our little girl a sibling. I had a FET transfer last Thursday, which were 5 day blastocysts. My pregnancy test is scheduled for June 25th, but I am so tempted to do the HPT. I managed not to be tempted last year, but I am so anxious this time around. Have any of you ladies done a HPT prior to your blood tests at the clinic? If so, how soon can a pregnancy be detected?

I would advise staying away from the HPT. I've just heard too many stories about people who took them and the reading was not true when the blood test was done. Your body is too full of hormones to give you an accurate result.

I can't stand the things (after so many months of negatives!). But even two weeks after my BFP, I took one and it barely registered a positive reading. Now I'm 17 weeks along and everything's fine. It's hard, but I think waiting is definitely better.

I have to admit that I am addicted to the HPTs. It probably is better to wait, but my beta was so late 14dp 5dt (5 days later than most). So I actually did one 8dp 5dt and got a faint positive. I did it again 10dp 5dt and it was a strong positive. By this time most of the people I have seen post have already done their beta.

I was in school FT and did not really have much time to think about it. Plus I did not want to waste $$. I got the news from the clinic and I am happy with it.

I can definitely understand taking a HPT if your beta was 14 dpt. Mine was 9, so I didn't have to wait as long!

I tested on day 10 and had a faint + that then got darker 2 days later so I knew it was real. The HCG shot that you give yourself should be out of your system by day 10. Good luck!

I strongly dislike HPT's!! I took two on something like day 8 & 10 or 9& 11
and both were a BFN! Then my beta showed I was pg! Those HPT's really had me bummed for a few days and I wish I would have just waited so I didn't go on such a rollercoaster ride over the few days. It's hard and after saying all that I don't know I could resist them even knowing what I know but I do suggest it!

Hi Ladies - thank you for all the responses. I've decided to wait until my bloodwork next week. The last thing I can handle right now is incorrect news!! I have positive spirits and high hopes for a BFP!! I'll keep everyone posted. I find out next Monday, June 25th.

I personally have nothing against HTPs. I would rather know earlier and be pleasantly surprised later, then have my hopes high for 2 whole weeks.
I did tests on day 8th, was negative, day 10, and day 11. Day 10 and day 11 with IVF#5 was positive.

But everybody is different.

hi i did hpt 5dpt it came back neg thendid 1 a couple of days later that came bk with faint positive did a digital test yesterday that also came bck pregnant will also do one tomoz just to make doubley sure lol

I took several hpt's before my blood work. In my case everything was backwards. I took a hpt on day 8, 10, 12, and 14 all were positive and getting darker by the day. Went for blood test and they called and said to stop all meds, that I was not pregnant. With no af I went to family doctor 2 days after that and they said I was pregnant. So in my case hpt's were right blood test was wrong.. Had I not taken hpt's and saw + I might not have gone to my doctor and just waited for af and not gotten back on progestrone.

Hi,
I did the hpt the day before the clinic test which allowed enough time to get an accurate reading. Even when I did get the positive I was still a little doubtful until I got the call from the clinic confirming it.
Doesn't hurt to take one I just advise you wait till the very last min so you can have accurate results.

I wouldn't do it, it is better to know for sure. I did a HPT 14 days after my ET after knowing it was a BFP from Blood, and it showed such a faint line eventhough my Hcg was strong! I would have second guessed it!

I did a fresh 3 day transfer on 06/06 I caved in a took a HPT today and I came out BFP. So good luck. You know I actually took one yesterday

and i came out negative but today it was positive.

Thanks for all stuff posted here. I had my embryo transfer on Thursady 10th July and am living on egg shells - having mild stomach pain as they said i would but you just cant help thinking its proper period pains, my clinic test not due till the 24th think ill go insane - so today against all advice did a home test that was negative so now dont know what to think. Did anybody have any other weird feelings- i keep feeling light headed and sicky as well as been asleep by 11pm which is very unusual for me!!!
