As I get closer to my due date, I am finding out that it is easier to get answers here. I live in the US. Has any one opted to bank the cord blood? What are the costs involved? Is it expensive?

We decided to bank our baby's cord blood. It cost $1850 initially and $125 per year for storage costs. We used Viacord. They provided a collection kit that your doctor uses to collect the sample. Viacord then sent a courier to the hospital to collect our kit.
