Feeling the baby kick

Post by Katy91 »

Hi everyone - I'm 20w5days now with a boy. Just started feeling him move around this week. It's amazing when you realize what that is! Is it safe to press just a little bit on my stomach to feel it more strongly? I don't want to damage anything! But it's totally addictive, hunting for movement.

I push on mine all the time..I call it "playing with the baby". A lot of times she will respond if I push her in the right spot. It's fun, isn't it?

It is! I've become somewhat obsessed with it now. That's why I was starting to worry I might be "denting" myself or him! :)

Congratulations on your BFP!

You make me laugh! I'm picturing the baby with a big dent in the forehead. Poor thing! No, I'm pretty sure they are protected pretty well with the amniotic fluid. As often as my dog jumps onto my lap, I'd better hope so or she's going to come out with puppy paws imprinted all over her body!

The movement is def my favorite part of pregnancy although it drives me crazy when she sleeps because of course I worry since there's no movement. So then I poke her awake. My mom says I'm going to have a very tired, naughty baby if I don't leave her alone!

What a relief! And a relief to hear I'm not the only one who does this! I can't believe how much things change over the weeks - I can't even imagine what 30 weeks will be like.

The best part was when my husband felt him move for the first time. Just an amazing experience. It all became VERY real for him.

Yeah, my husband was blown away by that too. Although 9 times out of 10 when I have him feel, the baby stops moving. Are you at the point yet where you can see the baby moving? That's what really freaks my husband out--it's like you can see the whole movement from one side of your belly to the other. It's so much fun--I promise that the movement keeps getting better and better although a lot of it is at night while i'm trying to sleep (but I'm not complaining!)

girls, I always wanted to ask, what are the movements feel like?

I know it is too early for me to feel anything just yet, only 15 weeks, but I wouldnt want to miss it 1st time it will happen

I started feeling it at about 19 weeks. At first I thought it was gas bubbles, then the ultrasound technician explained what it was. It literally felt like little bubbles popping in my stomach. Then it progressed to actual small thumps - nothing dramatic, just little bumps that could be anything. Now at 20w5d I can really tell if he's awake or asleep - it just feels like there's something IN there, wiggling around. And then every once in a while a real pop.

Yes, it felt like bubbles or even like a little fluttering at first. Like there's a little butterfly inside. It's really subtle. I know I had been feeling them for about a week or so before I realized that's what it was. When you feel it for the first time, there's just no other moment like it!!!!!!
