Can AF start while on Progesterone

Post by golfrswife »

I was just wondering if you can get your period while you are on progesterone? I always thought that it prolonged it?

I have tried IVF 5 times and each time I get my period while still on progesterone. That happened in the instances where I got my bfns and my chemical pregnancies.

How many days were you in to your 2ww? The reason I ask is I am only on day 8. Which means only 21 days in to a cycle. Now I understand that my cycle is pretty messed up right now because of all of this. But, I would think it's a little early for my period. Any thoughts?

In my experience my period doesn't come until I stop the progesterone. Once I've stopped it comes three days later.
Could it be implantation bleeding?

If you are 8 days into it, it could be implantation bleeding. Most women are like Jane37 and don't get it until after they stop the progesterone.

I however, got it fairly early considering my regular cycle and the fact that I was on progesterone. In two cycles, I got it 9 days after ET, in 2 others I got it 12-13 days after ET.

How much would you bleed during implementation? Yesterday I did have what looked like a little bit of tissue in there (sorry about the graphics). Would that be normal? I'm just soooo worried!

Hmmm,
That I am not sure. It does seem a bit early though to start your AF. I have never had implanatation bleeding but some women on this forum have reported that they bled as if they were getting AF but they actually were pregnant. Best of luck!

Thank you! I'm hoping that maybe this spotting is lasting a bit cuz they are all implanting! :) Wouldn't that be nice!

Hi Emily,

Hope that the spotting has stopped now :D. When do you test?

Take care
