Post by LISA@BELLASALES »

HELLO,

I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT I NEED TO SEE A PERINATOLOGIST BECAUSE OF MY THYROID AND APA ISSUES. HAS ANYONE SEEN ONE AND COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT THEY DO.

Typically, they work with the obgyn to manage high risk/multiple (twins/triplets) pregnancies.

They also do first trimester(NTscan/amnio/cvs) tests for all pregnant women. Whenever my gynecologist sees some thing unusual, he sends his patients to the perinatologist before making a final decision.

I love my perinatologist. I see mine every 4 weeks because of twins. The nice thing is the ADVANCED ultrasound equipment that they use. You can see everything on your baby so clearly, plus having an ultrasound every 4 weeks is wonderful!!! I look forward to seeing my perinatologist every month!!!

Wait till you are 8-9 months along, it is pretty incredible how much you will be able to see! You can pretty much see a photograph of the babies' faces and features before they are even born :)

Hi Rebecca,
I did not have a choice when I went in around 32 weeks. My obgyn ordered it. I don't see my preinatologist that often since I am carrying a singleton. I did the NTScan, L2 scan with the perinatologist prior to 32 wks and didn't think I was gonna' go again. But I was happy to see the baby so clearly. No, it did not bother me at all. But DH and I hid the picture from every one else. So, it will still be a surprise for them.
