Medicines scam

Post by dolly123 »

Hello ladies,

I was writing to see if anyone was ripped off while selling their unused IVF meds. I was ripped off when I sent my ununsed meds to this woman in california three months ago, and was writing to see if anyone recetly had a similar experience..please post or PM me.

My insurance did not pay for my IVF so I paid for everything out of pocket, as many of you are doing. In addition my doctor ordered too many meds (follistim and repronex) and so in April I sold them to this woman in california. She said she needed the meds by next morning since she was starting her stims. I was a bit skeptical as to why would she wait till the last minute to buy medicines, but trusted her anyway and sent the meds by Fed Ex overnight. I ended up paying $70 for the courier and sent her several hundred dollars worth Follistim and Repronex. She got the medicines alright (FedEx tracking reciept), but has not paid up until now despite several calls and emails to her. Everytime she comes up with some lame excuse or the other...apparently this is a scam as other people have also been ripped off. what did you do?

Hi Dolly

I havent been ripped off but i was so angry when i read your mail. it is bad enough that we are all having to live through this rollercoaster without unscrupulous people taking advantage!

Good luck with your treatment and I hope you do, finally, get reimbursed!

hi Dolly,

Im sorry to hear about your experience. I feel for you. as tracey said its hard enough to go through this experience

unfortunately i had a similar encounter with this person in the bay area ( california). She took the meds but never paid up. Mine was probably less than yours and i didn't pursue it too much. but hearing from you now it does seem like this is a scam.
I wonder how many other people have been scammed.

How totally LAME can people be!!! Dolly you should file a police report on that theif. I would be tempted to list her name and address on this website so she doesn't try to scam anyone else.

hi dolly,

you mentioned this person was in california, i'd be interested in seeing if this is the same person we are dealing with. I think you should list the persons name and contact info on this site so other people are not duped, or if you're not comfortable with that send me a PM.

Also as some ppl mentioned I think a police report would be a good idea. I think the feds (FBI) also have a anti-fraud unit where they investigate such crimes... maybe some of us can band together and file a complaint soon

I think what has happened is just HORRIBLE!!! It just sucks that there are people like that in this world! I was thinking too that you could file a police report... But then I thought with the way things go sometimes YOU could end up being in trouble for "selling drugs" It is terrible to even think that way, but from a similar experience sometimes the "good guy" doesn't win in the end. (My experience: my parents rented a car and found a bag of drugs in the glovebox. They went to the police to turn them in and the police interrogated them for 2 hours)

If you are not comfortable posting the personal information... just pm me with it and I will definitely post it!!!

I'm also really, really sorry about you getting ripped off. But I also wanted to add that I'm not sure how technically "legal" it is to sell your medications. You have to be a pharmacist to dispense medications. Maybe there is a loop hole in the law & it is OK to do, but I think I would just write it off as a loss.
Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there and personally, I would never, never, never considered using meds that I bought from someone online. Believe me, I know it's tempting. My insurance is now NOT paying for any of my medications and I'm not sure how I'll afford it if I have to go through another fresh IVF cycle. But when you buy something from a stranger online you have no idea whether or not they just sold you saline solution in follistim cartridges or not.
I just wanted to warn people on both sides of the issue, buying & selling, that it may not be the best thing to do.

actually interesting you raised this point because i checked this thing and its not against the law to sell to someone else...this is an agreement between two conseting parties. This is also different than dispensing which only a physician or pharmacy can do. By law, registered pharmacies are not allowed to buy back meds but private parties can sell them to one another...

sobers: that IS interesting!!! :!: and quite honestly, i don't know about all of you --------- but i feel as if i'm developing some real "bonds" out here on these message boards..........i absolutely am at a point where i feel i could "trust" the women out here......maybe shame on me - but i would buy out here in a hot second given the opportunity....had the timing been right and the meds i needed available -- you bet!! i think this is a great forum for that kind of thing......we're all out here for the same purpose ----- but moreso in support of each other.....what better way to be able to do that than help w/ the expense of these ridiculously overpriced fertility meds!!!!!

Thank you everyone for your help and advise. Everyone here is so supportive!!!

At this time I am not inclined to reveal this person's name or other information. Although she has broken all promises in the past 3 months, I still want to give her one more chance till next week at which point i'll evaluate all options.

libacixoxo, thanks for your help.. I believe we are indeed talking about the same person. I'll send you a PM if I need that information. thanks!!
