bromocriptine anyone?

Post by bebe »

i'm nearing the end of the stim portion of my 2nd ivf cycle and haven't responded as well as on my 1st cycle. my RE has pondered taking it out one more day, but is concerned that my progesterone has been elevated (~1.2) for the past 3 days and my prolactin today is elevated to 46. he wants to start me on bromocriptine today and trigger me tonight, even though we may run the risk of not many follicles. has anyone had a similar experience with rising prolactin. and with taking bromocriptine. i've heard it can be very hard on the stomach. lot's of nausea. and any ideas if the high progesterone and prolactin have an effect on outcomes?any input is appreciated.
thanks,
bebe

Hi,

I have had thyroid and prolactin problems for years. I was on bromocriptine and it made me a tiny bit nauseous. But I have to tell you, I usually have every bad side effect there is and it wasn't too bad for me. Having those levels in check I think will definetly help you in the long run. Although I know you want a lot of follicles you only need one, so hopefully having your prolactin in check will help the follicles be quality! Good luck!

I have been taking bromocriptine for almost 10 months. At first, I experienced lots, lots of vomiting!!! But it was just for the first day. We lowered the dosage.Afterwards, I experienced heavy headaches, and shore throat. But doctor says I seem to be very sensitive to side effects. Anyway, I am from Greece and maybe the medicine have differences here. There are new pills now that have milder side effects.

Anyway, I am on day 5 of my 2WW. I did long protocol, had 10 eggs, 8 fertilized perfectly, 3 put back and 5 frosties.
