Anyone in the Chicagoland area?

Post by boonie »

I've done two IVF's with the same doctor. I'm not planning on doing another one right now, but just wanted to check to see were you were going. Also, looking for support around this area.

I am currently at FCI in Glenview. I will be going in for ER on Saturday it looks like. This is my 2nd cycle. The first cycle was canceled/converted to IUI due to poor response=BFN. I have responded much better on this protocol.

What clinic are you at?

I'm not seeing anyone anymore, but I was at FCI in Orland Park. Both my IVF's were done at River North.

I'm looking for an accupunturist. Are you by chance doing accupunture?

If anyone, has a recommendation in the Chgoland area, please let me know.

I'm in Chicagoland too. So far so good with my doctor. I am at the Hinsdale Center for Reproduction. Dr. Hickey. I am starting my first IVF next month. I started BCP prep month today.

My center gave me the name of Pulling Down the Moon for acupuncture as well. I am trying them in a couple of days to see if I like it.

Hello,
I am in the Chicago area. I am using FCI and Dr. Lifchez. My 1st cycle was cancelled because of poor response. I am due to start stims on the 19th and am crossing my fingers and toes that this works!

I am going in for transfer tomorrow. I am on pins & needles. They were able to retrieve 12 eggs. 8 were developing well. This will be a 5 day transfer. (FCI, Glenview/Dr. Lifchez)

Hello!!!!

Post by albany07 »

Hello Lindsey, Kristin and Michelle!

I am trying to get a thread going without any luck - I hope this will work...

Should we post stats to keep track? How many are doing IVF/ICSI? 1st timers?

My DH and I are going for 1st time IVF/ICSI due to Male Factor, low count, morphology and motillity. Started bcps 8/14, 21 days will be September 3, 2007 - I think that is when we start injections...

Kristin - I hope the transfer produces a BFP! I am sending you lots of baby dust! Looks like you and Michelle are seeing the same RE! Cool!

Hope to hear back from all of you fellow Chicago IVFr's!!!!

Hello Girls,

Ingrid - I think this was a great idea! Thanks for starting it!

I am on a new protocol since I responded poorly& did not finish my 1st cycle. Dr. Lifchez removed my Lupron. I took bc pills until Tuesday and am now on a 5 day wait until I can begin my stims. I will do Follistem 450 and low dose HCG. At sometime in the cycle I will start with Gonorex? I forgot the spelling. I am very nervous as I am a teacher and the timing of this just could mean that I will miss the 1st day of school - YIKES! I am trying to stay calm.

I like Dr. Lifchez, but am not happy with the Oakbrook office. They never tell me anything. I want to know what they expect to see on the ultrasound, etc... Oh well, I will just have to keep asking questions and making myself a pain in their behinds!

Kristin, I am excited to hear that you responded better this time! That is awesome! Good luck on Saturday! I will be crossing my fingers for you!

Lupron

Post by albany07 »

Michelle,

What happened with the Lupron and why?

I am somewhat concerned with this as my bcps timing is a little tricky and I am afraid the egg production process started. My first cycle was cancelled in July and bcps cycle performed as follows:
bcps started July 9th, cycle cancelled July 19th - continued bcps pending results of further testing (continued active bcps) Stopped bcps on August 8 (due to miscommunication), light AF on the 9th through August 13. Cleared by RE to take bcps again next day 8/14.

My question is: Will this interfere with the course of injections? Why didn't Lupron work for you?

Michelle, I too feel that my office gives you info. on a need to know basis. I feel we all need to be our own advocates and come in to the office with questions written down and discussed between you and your DH. My DH is great and we work together as advocates for both of us. I have him make some calls and ask questions of the nurses. I almost feel he needs to as this experience is the replacement for the intimate love making part of baby making. That is why I feel he needs to get "intimate" with this process. I do not want to leave him out! He sat in on our mock "transfer". I really give him much credit (I heard a couple tears come out of his eyes, which in turn made me tear up!).

Sorry this is so long.... I spent a good majority of my childhood in Sister Gertrude Maries (school principal's) office for talking too much!

Hi Albany,

I am not sure why the Lupron did not work. My cycle was cancelled because I did not have enough follicles by day 8 of stims. I had taken 2 weeks of bcps, then started 10 of Lupron for 4 or 5 days and then cut the Lupron to 5 and added 300 of Follistem and low dose HCG. I think I was being suppressed too much (the Lupron is supposed to keep suppressing you mildly so you do not hyperstimulate.) I only had 4 follicles and my doctor thought it would be best to cancel as my insurance only pays for 4 retrievals and we did not want to waste one. We thought we were only dealing with male issues, but now are worried. We (DH and I ) cried last month, but we are hopeful that this time, with increased follistem and no lupron, will do the trick. I'll let you know.

Try not to cry...

Post by albany07 »

Try not to cry... at least, this is what my husband says... by the way, he cries with me too... are they not our best friends???
Everything will be ok.... wait until that BFP!!!!
My DH is at a sales meeting (right in town) :( I am all alone...
I know everything happens for a reason and I also know we are very STRONG women and men. Otherwise, we would not be placed in this situation....

We are thinking positive follie thoughts both i and DH - in our prayers at night...

Thanks for becoming part of our journey.... WE WILL ALL ENDURE!!!!!

No, I don't go to some weird church.... That is part of my weird, hard to understand, unless you are my friend humor.... Ingrid

Where are you all?

Post by sciteacher77 »

I had my egg retrieval on Wednesday and am having my 5 day transfer on Monday. My clinic has not given me any details on the condition of the embies or how many they will put in (I think 2.) I had 7 eggs removed and 4 fertilize. I am nervous and excited at the same time.

How are all of you?

:-) Michelle
