discharge in pregnancy

Post by Cori »

Hi everybody!
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me whether this is normal or not.
This afternoon, ( hope this is not too much information) when i went to the bathroom and wiped I noticed a clear but slightly yellow, thick, jelly-like discharge. Is this normal or is this something I should call my doctor about. I have never see this type of discharge before.
Thanks.

How far along are you? Discharge is definitely normal throughout pregnancy. Usually it's white or clear. The only time mine was "jelly like" was when I lost my mucus plug last week....otherwise it's just been sort of thick but not snot like. (The mucus plug was much more snot like).

Hi Cori...

I have a son who will be 14 soon... I had the type of discharge you are talking about with that pregnancy and I even had a little with this pregnancy last week. It's just the excess from the cervical area. You probably won't have too much of it again if at all. The mucus plug is not clear, it is yellowish/whiteish and sometimes has a streak of blood but it is definately not clear so don't worry about it. You shouldn't lose your mucus plug until close to the birth and you will definately know that is what it is when that happens.

If you are still concerned you should talk to the doctor to ease your mind. When is your scan - did you have one yet?

Here's to a HHP!!!

Thanks Cocoa and Meg.
I should have written how far along I am. I am 10 weeks today. I had a u/s 5 days ago that showed a strong heratbeat but this discharge is worrying me. I read about the mucous plug but I don't know if that would be relevant this early, is it?
Th discharge had no sign of blood and luckily I have had no spotting at all so far. But this discharge was jelly or snot like ( thick) and was clear with some yellow. What is this? Is there any reason I would be having this. I always have a normal yellow discharge and sometimes white which they told mew is probably from the Prometrium that I am taking. Do I need to worry about today being the mucous plug?
Thank you all fro your listening and support.
This is my first pregnancy and i have been very worried. I hope this is somewhat normal.

hi cori

i'm nearly 7 weeks and i've started getting some discharge, which has been clear. i read on another post here somewhere (think it might be on the next page by now) that this is normal and due to your hormones. so i'm sure it's fine. if you're concerned though call your doctor.

good luck

Cori--I am sure it isn't your plug--you're way too early for that. It sounds to me like it's just normal discharge. There's always something to worry about, huh?!

Cori,

I am 15 weeks and I have had same thing. Off and on it is whitish or slightly yellowish. It is absolutely normal. Unless there is bad odor, burning and/or itching than it might be infection so you might want to call the doctor.

Hi

I was told discharge is the sign of a healthy pregnancy except as Tajma says, if there's a bad odor, green or red as these are signs of infection.

Best of luck to you.
