Very Embarrising Question

Post by Christin »

I have noticed over the last couple of days (probably 3 - 4 days) that my vigina area has gradually become swollen. When I woke up this morning, it is insanely swollen. Please, has anyone else out here experienced that? I am getting concerned.

Thanks for your response.

Does this last the entire pregnancy? It is very uncomfortable. Hahaha..why didn't I see this in the pregnancy manual? They leave out all of the embaressing things huh?

Well, I left a message with the doctor earlier just in case. I am waiting for them to get back with me.

It is very normal. I had same thing in my first trimester and it gradually decreased. It is just all the extra blood flow and pressure that comes with preganncy.

Good Luck.

christin - if i remember correctly, do you have OHSS??

if so, i was told by the hospital that gravity would eventually pull down the fluids into your vagina. it's certainly what happened to me in hospital and i'm so glad the doctors warned me!

I do have OHSS. I went to the doctor yesterday bc i was freaking out about everything. First is was this, then I noticed my left knee was swelling, my back was accumulating a ton of fluid, and still gaining a ton of weight in my abdomen. But of course, there was nothing he would do other than tell me to continue to rest and drink a ton of gatorade.

I broke down crying in his office bc he was so matter-of-fact about it, and wouldn't explain things to me. The ultrasound tech took me with her and did a scan to see if more fluid had accumulated since the last time. While I was in there with her, she did a better job of explaining things to me.

The best thing I heard from the RE yesterday was, you are having these sympthoms bc you were hyperstimulated and now you are pregnant. If you weren't pregnant, you would not be experiencing any of this. So that helped me put it into perspective.

I, too, have had vaginal swelling since somewhere in the end of my first trimester/ beginning of my second trimester and it has only gotten worse (along with insane pressure, but I've not dilated at all so it's not a concern). I'm 33 weeks along with twins and did not have this with my son. I thought maybe it was from carrying twins but I've heard of others not carrying twins having it also. Yes, it is weird that that was something I had never heard of either. I'm hoping it goes back to normal after they're born - I don't quite feel like myself!
