We were just informed that we need to do the ICSI methof with our IVF due to DH low morphology.
Has anyone gotten BFPs with this method.
I have read alot and it doesn't sound like a bad thing. To me it seems to increase your chances a little.
Of course the cost is more so that may be why your chances are better.
Any info that you can provide on this method and the procedure would be very help.
This is our first IVF attempt and we have all sorts of emotions.
Just started BC today with a possible ER on 27 October.
Me, 40 - DH, 47
IVF #1: POSITIVE - Michaela born 9/19/08
IVF #2: Consult on 10/13/09 - Start BCP Dec since clinic will be closed for the Holiday.

Hi there! My husband and I had to go through ICSI as well because of his sperm quality. He had poor motility and morphology. We have never done any other type of fertility treatment before, so in August when we started, it was all so brand new to us. It really wasn't that bad at all. I put my mind into making this work. I stayed home from work the entire time to limit my stress level, and me and DH tried our hardest to not think about it 100% of the time (although it is something that is always on top of your mind). I didn't want to do this more than once, so I wanted to do everything within my power to make it work. I drank a ton of water bc that is really good for your ovaries. I once read that the first place your body will strip water from during dehydration is your ovaries, so be sure to drink a ton of water every day.
So long story short, me and DH are expecting our first baby in May 2008. My hcg numbers have been very high, so we are waiting to find out if we are having twins.
This whole process takes a lot of emotions, time, and finances, but in the end....it is so worth it.
ICSI is a wonderful method of IVF. Don't worry at all. You will be great.

Just wanted to say that I am so happy to hear that you got a BFP on your first try. This is so encouraging.
I have told myself that I would make the best of this experience and not let it weight too heavily on me.
Please keep in touch with us.
It's good to hear the good stories of success and to just chat with the people who have already undergone the procedure.
Thanks so much for the reply.

first of all --- WELCOME ABOARD washingtonda!!!! I think you will (if you haven't already!!) find this chat forum one of the best things EVER as you go thru your cycle.........
far as IVF/ICSI......i just went thru my 1st ever IVF round in August, unfortunately for us - we got BFN.......HOWEVER - "our" issues were similar to yours ---- basically dh's little swimmers just weren't up for the job.........so ICSI was recommended and we did it -- all along thinking THAT would be our biggest hurdle to overcome ---- they retrieved 4 eggs......and all 4 eggs fertilized BECAUSE of ICSI.........(rest of my story is basically that my doc thinks i should have been treated to thin my blood immediately following transfer as i DID have chemical BFP.... but then for some reason - the little embies just didn't implant.....i'm hopeful and excited for our BFP w/ round #2 --- hopefully in january 08!!!)
The point i was trying to make is just that while it may cost more ------- i believe if dh's little swimmers are primary reason at this point ---- then you NEED to do it......just my opinion
firstly, welcome to the board!!! you'll find immense support on here!
secondly, we have used ICSI twice. our first attempt we had 100% fertilisation but unfortunately ended in a BFN. on our second attempt we had 100% fertilisation again and got a BFP!!
same as you, we have male factor infertility....low sperm count and motility. in actual fact my dh only has quarter of a million sperm and only a very small amount of those are motile! (compared to the usual 25 million sperm in a healthy man!) so i definitely had my doubts if even ICSI would work. but hey it has!!! yes, it's so much more expensive but it will be worth it in the end!!
best of luck!!!

We had male factor as well, I had two fully stimulated cycled with icsi usung frozen sperm (dh works os) with poor fertilisation results and BFN's. He happened to be here for my third cycle so we had icsi with fresh sperm and I am typing with my 6 week old little girl strapped to my chest!!
Im 4 days out from egg collection and feel very bloated and tired. Is this normal... 2nd bloods tommorrow to see if we can go on with nxt step or frez.. Physically i feel blah... Its 3rys and all is becoming a blurrr ...
washingtonda....
If you there are male issue go for the ICSI in my opinion as well. Yes it a litttle more costly but it helps. We are another success story with ICSI. We had male morphology issues. We got a BFN on our first fresh cycle and went right to the FET and I am a week away from delivery of a baby boy. It works give it a try...Its the less painful of all procedures for you...LOL....Go for it and best of Luck to you during this process...
