TO ALL THE PREGNANT WOMEN- Need your advice!!!

Post by Tris »

Hey Guys!

I am on my 6th week pg and started to get "morning sickness" at NIGHT (I am nauseous only at night)...is there a way I can ease this? Something I can drink maybe? It feels really terrible for me and Ive also lost my appetite because of this so everytime I throw-up, nothing really comes out (sorry to be detailed)...its just a gag reflex that somehow relieves me...any advise on how to soothe my tummy afterwards or during??

Secondly I had some brownish almost black spotting in the morning...I take progestrone supposotories and when they come out overnight, there is some bownish/black discharge that comes with it...does anyone know what this means? no bleeding and cramping, just a little discharge in a weird color...almost black! Never had it before..Is this normal in pregnancy?

Thanks again and hoping for some advise...

Hey Tris-

I am with you on the morning sickness- mine came mostly at night. My dr. prescribed phenergan. It is a safe drug to take for nausea. It makes you sleepy though and I only took half a pill or I slept all night and all day. It worked great though and I was able to get some sleep! Ask for that if you have to.

The bleeding I didn't experience, but from what I hear as long as it isn't red or pink you are ok. I would call the Dr. and tell them about it though.

hope this helps! Enjoy your pregnancy! The good news is the sickness will probably go away when you are around 12-14 weeks!
Jenn

Hi Tris,

The dark spotting is very common. I had it throughout the first trimester with my pregnancy.

I ALSO had evening sickness. I found that it was best if I always had something in my stomach, but not a lot. Too much in the stomach always gave me acid reflux, but a few crackers or cheerios was always helpful. Some people have success with those accupressure wrist bands but they never worked for me. Also lemon water and Altoids helped me.

Enjoy the glamourous world of pregnancy---isn't it sexy???

Good luck and congrats on your BFP!!!

I had terrible sickness that lasted all day and night. My dr. prescribed Zofran. This stuff saved my life becaue I couldn't keep food down at all. I took it from week 7 until the end of my pregnancy because the sickness NEVER subsided like it does w/ most women after the 1st trimester. He also let me take 1 unisom at night. It also helps sickness and helped me to sleep because I have insomnia. I had brown spotting as well, I assume from either carrying twins or the progesterone. They took me off progesterone in week 7 and they didn't tell me to wean off (which they should have). I bled sooo badly 2 days after stopping that I went to the ER thinking I was having a miscarriage. So when you stop yours, ask the dr if you should wean off as well so you don't have a terrible scare like I did.

Thanks everyone! Its great to be part of this chat really, so helpful!...Im so happy to be BFP but when you get sick my gosh you just forget how excited you are  My hubby just gave me a book "what to expect when youre expecting" and with all the what to do and what nots in there, I even wonder how women go through it all...plus all the anxiety. At least the reward at the end is forever...

Ill see my doc in a few days, hopefully I get relief fast...its evening again and I can feel the nausea coming.....oh no!

Hi Tris,
I feel for you. I am into my third week of morning sickness which is pretty much all day except for about four hours late afternoon / evening. At night I eat dry rice cakes and drink fruit flavoured water, sometimes two or three times a night. Sucking ice cubes is also a really big help to me, also helps with dehydration when you don't want to drink at night. It's also better to have something in your stomach when you throw up :D
My gynaecologist also recommended the homeopathic remedy nux vomica although I haven't tried it yet.
Hang in there, I feel for you. I also read that m/s is worse when you are tired.
Take care and take each day as it comes - it will be worth it in the end :D

I heard that peach juice out of the can helps with nausea, never tried it so I dont know for sure, but it is worth a try, I hope you feel better! I would kill for M/S right now.
