progesterone test

Hello all,

I went to my doc after ttc for a year after charting i find i have a short lp (7-8 days) anyway he sent me for a progesterone test and said to do it on day 21, after i told him my periods were not 28 days but anywhere between 19 and 29 he said to go on day 17(?) so i go for the test on day 17 which was actually 4 days dpo and the results came back fine but the results say they were fine for 7 days dpo... so i now have a referral but the letter to the clinic says tests were normal and they were only concerned because of a previous ectopic and the fact we have been trying for a year. He mentions nothing of the short LP or the fact the test was done on 4 days DPO...
do you think the clinic are going to think im just a nutter and send me away... the appt is costing me £300 so if they are going to do that then i might as well cancel it and take my argument up with my doctor... sorry if i sound like a idiot but im wound up!!!!!

I too was like you and had a short luteal phase, AF would come at around day 21. Everyone seemed to comment on it, but no one really seemed concerned or did anything about it.

I ended up doing accupuncture for a year 2x week for fertility. One of the things that she worked on was lengthening my cycle. It has been over a year since I had done this and my cycle is now between 27 and 30 days. Something you may want to look into.

You may also want to consider homeopathy. I've always had very irregular cycles (anything up to 9 weeks) with very painful AF for the last 3-4 years with no known cause. I didn't respond at all to the first cycle of Clomid but when I started homeopathy with the 2nd course my cycle was 'normal' (well 32 days) and has been ever since. Of course, I can't be sure its the homeopathy not the meds but AF is getting less painful every month and other problems such as back ache have improved too.
