Post by mkdig »

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you knew anything about or have a history of polyps?
My re is doing a test to check for them (ultrasound with saline) b/c she thought she saw one.
I was just wondering if any of you have had the test or polyp removal and if so if you Does it hurt? did they remove polyp at the time of the test? can I go back to work the next day?
Thanks guys!!

Hi,

I had surgery in May to remove several polyps. The test was uncomfortable but didn't really hurt. The surgery itself was compared to a D&C. They go in and scrape everything out. My doc. only saw one polyp during the test but once she got in there she said it was a real mess. It wasn't too painful, I just felt sluggish from the anesthesia. I was out of work for 3 days, but I certainly could have gone back sooner if I really needed too. I had pretty heavy bleeding for a few days but not much pain.
Good news: It worked! It only took 1 more IUI (I didn't want to waste time trying on our own) and I got pregnant! I'm 18 weeks right now.
Good Luck, Hope this helps!

Thanks it helps to hear that you got pregnant right after the polyp thing. hopefully it will be the same for me. The weird thing is as much as i hate the idea of the surgery I sort of hope that I do have polyps, at least it would help explain why first three iui's didnt work, you know?
Did they do your surgery the same day as the test or did you have to schedule it after they looked?
Thanks so much!!
congrats on your pregnancy! are you going to find out what your having?

I had to schedule the surgery, it was done at the hospital. I felt the same way about the test. I wanted them to find a reason why we couldn't conceive. I just wish they did this test first. We had 2 failed IUI's before it. It was certainly simple enough and doesn't seem like it cost very much at all to do. It could have saved us 6 months! Oh well I'll make them do it next time around!

I had an ultrasound on Thursday and found out it's a boy! My husband couldn't be any happier! I'm counting down the months!!

Good Luck, let me know how you make out!
