Chinese herbs???

Post by Love »

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday at my office visit I received a Chinese herb mixture from my acupuncturist (I'm trying to improve my egg quality and also get my body in just a general "better health" before I use my last [paid] IVF cycle)

YUCKO!!!!!

I added honey to the "tea" nothing, still was terrible

and after smelling the mixture my hubbie said, "Are you sure that you're supposed to drink that awful stuff"?

I even tried sucking on a breath mint while trying to drink the cupful ... YUCK!! :x

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I was thinking of asking my Acupuncturist if the powder mixture could be put into a capsule form instead

Wish each of you all the best

Hugs,
Love

HI Love,

OK yes they are terrible. Only advice I have is to wait til it cools down a bit and block your nose and straight down the hatch. Strangely enough it gets easier. But I must say they would make my stomach churn the first few times. I found it easier to put the herbs in the tiniest amount of boiling water so that it was like a shot rather than a whole cup full.

Hope that helps! Good luck! To give you a bit of encouragement, after ttc 5 years, I fell pg naturally on the herbs the first month I took them! Unfortunately it resulted in an early miscarriage, but after 5 years, the only thing I did differently was drink those damn herbs :-)

All the best,

Dex xx

I took the herbs for 2 months and then ovulated for the first time in years. 6 weeks later I ovulated again - I then had a wonderful drug free natural thaw cycle and now I am 7 weeks! Amazing - there is no doubt the herbs helped.
So it is worth the gross taste! Good luck to you both.

I took the chinese herbs for over 1 year - yes they are horrific  but when I was cookig the herbs and drinking I just thought about my future son or daughter and it is all worth it. To be honest it does get better...actually after a while I liked the taste!! I know crazy.

Roxwell - there is no 'specific'herb to take - you have to see a TCM doctor (traditional chinese medicine) - and they will prescibe something specifically for you. I actually had to get my herbs at the apotheke.

All the best! It is worth all the pains and struggles!

Love - nice to see you are still around! Good luck with the herbal treatment and your next cycle! lots of baby dust to you!

Tracii - I see that you are in Munich. I live in Schwarzwald. Do you mind if I ask you where you went for your 3rd IVF? Were you in Germany or did you go elsewhere? Wishing you a smooth pregnancy and all the best.

Hi,

This is my first experience with acupuncture. I was told that I could not try the herbs because I am taking the lupron. Can you ladies tell me what herbs you can take during an active IVF cycle?

My husband and I had been TTC for about 2 years until I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had never heard about it before and just brushed the symptoms I had "under the carpet". After being diagnosed with PCOS, I didn’t think it would ever be possible to have a baby, but then I found Insulite. I learned how to reverse the symptoms, feel healthier, and eventually I got pregnant. I started taking Insulite PCOS system in early October 2007 and by the end of December I was pregnant. If you are interested in the proper herbs to take, you should definitely check this out. I just wanted to share this in case anyone was struggling with the same thing I was. Here is to a happy and heatlhy 2008.

I have done acupuncture only for my 5th cycle. I was considering doing herbs also, but I was told by my clinic not to do them (at least during the cycle) because they can be toxic to the embryo's. They did not say anything about doing the herbs before starting a cycle. Also the accupunturist, who is from China, never mentioned it either, so all I did was accupuncture. I was curious about doing the herbs, but tended to stay away because of what the clinic said.

As far as accupuncture was concerned, I really liked it and in the end I thought it was probably helpful. I only got 2 good eggs, but they seemed to be the best quality eggs I got through the whole process. It was also the only time that I technically got pregnant through 3 IUI's and 5 IVF's. It just didn't end up in the right place--it was etopic. Each time, the combo of drugs were a little different, but the only thing that I did differently was accu. I wish I tried it earlier. I always had it on my mind, but since neither of the doctors I had (I was at 2 different clinics) never mentioned it, I felt funny about bringing it up. It's relaxing and overall, should I do one final cycle, then I would do it again.
