My RE told me that he might use ICSI, even though my hubby's numbers are good. I think it's because of my age (42!) and/or just in case the sperm sample isn't what he wants.
He thinks it will increase my chances.
Just wondering if anyone else has had ICSI done without male factor issues. If so, what was the outcome?
I figure it the RE think we should, why not? What's another thousand at this point?
TGIF!!!!

IVF #2- May 08, beta test 5/26
It worked for me! I have PCOS and did IVM (in vitro maturation) in March 07 and even if 2 eggs were mature and my husband did not have any male factor infertility (in fact, his sperm count/morphology/motility were fantastic) and we did ICSI. I'm now pregnant 37 weeks with a little boy - that we cannot wait to see!
Boo - hopefully my story will help you justify the extra $$$
I had my fist IVf last December, DH had great tests, I am 34 with no known fertility issues other than one blocked tube, so RE suggested against ICSI. We retrived 25 eggs and had ZERO fertilization...it was devistating! The RE was shocked
It took us a while to get our courage up to try again. The RE said we could try one more time with ICSI and if it didn't work, that would be it, because ICSI typicly solves all the unknown problems and since DH tests looked good it was probably an egg issue that they can't diagnose.
Well, I am currently on my 2ww
We retrieved 28 eggs, did ICSI on the 24 mature eggs, 19 fertilized, and we got 11 great embies out of it. Granted I had extreemly high numbers of eggs (ouch) but I had 0 embies without ICSI.
I am definately a believer in ICSI and wished we had done it on the first try so I didn't spend a year worrying a second attempt would fail and we would need an egg donor.
GOOD LUCK!
