Anyone going to Shady Grove Fertility

Post by washingtonda »

Just checking to see if anyone of the board is using Shady Grove Fertility Clinic in the MD/DC/VA area.

I am using the Annapolis office and Dr. Mottla is my RE.

Anyone else.

Hi Doreen,

I just wanted to say hi - I'm not using Shady Grove, but I am in Maryland. I've been going to the Johns Hopkins Fertility Center (the only place my insurance covers). I've heard good things about Shady Grove, though - seems like they are the most popular fertility center in MD.

Good luck with your ER/ET! I'm hoping to start IVF #2 sometime after the first of the year.
DH & I both 37
IVF #1 8/2007: BFP, but M/C at 11 weeks due to Trisomy 13
2008: 6 IVFs canceled - poor response
IVF #2 2/2009: 2 embryos transferred, BFN
Mid-2009: 4 more IVFs canceled - poor response
IVF #3 10/2009: BFP, hoping it sticks this time!

Thanks for responding. We are doing the Shared Risk. It's costing us $22,000 and the cost of meds but they are guarenteeing us a baby or our money back so that speaks volumes itself.

A friend of my co-workers used them and the same doctor that I have a got pregnant with Donor eggs.

We are using my eggs and my fiance's sperm so we'll see.

I just want it to come. This may sound stupid but I can't wait to start taking shots and all that to see what this is really about after researching it for so many years. This is my first attempt so it would be nice if we could get a baby of babies on the 1st try.

Right now I'm in for the long hall. Whatever it takes to get us there, I'm willing to take the plunge. It's all God's will and we trust in him enough for him to come through for us yet once again.

Keep me posted and I'll do the same.

I know what you mean about being ready to get started. My first IVF worked, but unfortunately ended in a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks. Being pregnant for that short time made me really realize just how badly I want this. I would start again tomorrow if I could, but will need to wait until January or February.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, and will definitely keep you posted.

I would be so devastated if I get pregnant and miscarry. I know it is common but that would hurt us so bad.

Can I ask why you have to wait so long?

I hope and pray that it's just a continued effort. I'm convinced that if it doesn't work for me the first time around I want to start the process right away the next time.

I know there are things that might hold you up but I want to have a baby in 2008 (smile).

Hi Doreen,

My name is Melissa and I am also going to SG in Annandale. My doctor is Dr. Greenhouse and my nurse is Pam. I am currently stimming and will have another US and BW on Monday. I have done 3 IUI's all BFN so I am hoping and praying this first IVF works. How are you liking SG? I have done alot of research and have found that they have the best lab in the area. The doctors are great but having a good lab is most important. I bet you can't wait to get started!! Let me know if you have any questions. Do you know what meds they will be putting you on? May I also ask your age? Just curious as to what you are doing since we both are at SG. I'm 31 and DH32. I did not do BC pills but started Lupron 15ml on 11-15 and continued until 11-27 then that night I started 225 Gonal-F and 75 Menopur. Friday I had BW and US and was called by my nurse and told to up my dose to 300 Gonal-F and 150 menopur. I guess my E2 was not going up enough. Thats just some info on me, I hope we can share throughout this whole process. Hope you have a great weekend! :D

There's a couple reasons why we're waiting to start again. First, my doctor said I need to wait 8 weeks or so, to let the lining of the uterus heal and build up fully again (I had to have a D&C). The other reason is the time of year - I don't want to be doing IVF during the holidays, and I'm not wild about doing it during times when there's a risk for snow interfering with getting to the clinic.

The miscarriage was awful, but we're doing OK. It's a cliche, but life goes on, and time really is a healer. The weird thing is, as horrible as it was to miscarry, at least I know I can get pregnant and carry the baby for several weeks. After trying for so long, just getting pregnant is such a huge step forward, you know?

Good luck to both of you!

PS I'm now Grey1 - I changed my email address on Grey and it invalidated my account for some reason. I emailed the board administrator, but haven't heard back, so I gave up and created a new account.
