Nuchal test on twins-exactly the same results?

Post by Michellyn8 »

Hi,

I am having fraternal twins-IVF. I got my results back for the Nuchal test and they were exactly the same for both babies. I don't know how this is possible since the neck measurements should be different on each baby. Also my results were 1/563 for downs and 1/10,000 for Trisomy. I guess I am also starting to worry that maybe the Downs result is not very good. Any insight or experience would be greatly appreciated. Were your results different for each twin or the same?

Thank you,

Michelle

Hi Michelle...

Wonder why we don't see you on the April/May thread...???

Congratulations on the twins!!!... there are a lot of us having twins on the April/May thread (of the 8 of us who put down our due dates 5 of us are having twins!!!!)

Anyway, I am not sure what all those NT numbers mean but I wouldn't concern myself with the 1:563 cause it sounds good to me. I had mine done and they only gave me ONE number for BOTH... I do know the neck thicknesses 1.9 - the same on each so maybe you CAN get the same number - maybe you're SUPPOSED to get the same number.

I go in on Dec 10th for the level II U/S so if there were something wrong besides genetic problems we will see it (even what they call "soft signs" of downs).

Come join us on the thread - we're a bunch of fun and silly ladies!!!!

NTT

Post by karno1 »

I have fraternal twins too. They wren't able to give me a trisomy #, but my down's numbers were similar. They are good numbers, esp if you look at odds based on age, health conditions, etc.

The NTT reading can really vary by who is measuring-within a few millimeters. Every sonographer can measure just a bit differently, and esp when you are tlaking such small amounts. Mine were both the same too.

Good luck and congrats on the BFP!
