FISH Test on sperm

Post by ammu »

Has anybody got a sperm FISH Test done?

My doctor's office ordered this test for us, but the lab they suggested will not do it until mid January next year due to their schedule. I searched for other labs, but couldn't find any. I live in Orange County, CA. We are due to start our 3rd IVF cycle in January, but would like to get this test done before that. If you know of any labs that do FISH test on sperm in Orange or LA County, please let me know.

Regards,

ammu.

ammu - I've never heard of the FISH test before, but I live in OC too! What infertility clinic are you using? And what lab are you working with? Is it just one of those walk-in type places, or something else? I have always gone to Westcliff Medical Lab at Hoag. They seem to do just about everything...but not sure about what you need. :(

cornybaby,

I go to Coastal Fertility. They have an inhouse lab, some times I use Quest Diagnostics also. FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization) test is done on sperm to rule out any chromosome abnormality in sperm. Not sure if there is another name for this test. Looks like it is not done in most labs. We are thinking of doing PGD also. sooooo desperate to have a baby :(

We cycled together last time. Are you starting your next cycle in January?

Hey ammu, I remember you from last time. :D I think we got our BFNs on the same day? Anyway, yes, I am starting in January. Depending on when I get AF, I will start lupron on either 1/14 or 1/21. I got my new protocol this week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the changes will help me to respond better. What about you? Are you going to try in January too? Oh - I'm over on the Jan/Feb thread...you should join us over there. :D
