How to relax and de-stress

Post by Lisa_P »

Hello there to you all. Just want to say that I'm new to all of this. My dh and I will be starting our first DIUI treatment mid Sept, drugs assisted and i will start sniffing on the 24th.

I've been reading previous threads and am keen to know more about the accunputure / reflexology and their benefits. Are they helpful? can you do it during sniffing / injecting what advice can you give me?

This noticeboard and web site is excellent. I've learnt so much just by reading and hope to find some buddies to help me through my first treatment. It's so uplifting to read all your 'threads' and the support you give eachother. And congratulations on all of the positive news recently.

Hope to hear from you soon, thanks
Lisa

Lisa

Hello and welcome!

I have had both treatments, and am now over 10 weeks pregnant, I am convinced they were beneficial to treatment.

There are some details on the reflexology and Acu thread further down this page, and yes, you can have them along with the sniff/inject phases, not advisable after ET, but if you do go your therapist will explain this to you.

Wishing you lots of luck!

D x
Me 34, DH, 37. Married for 11 years, ttc for 6+, failed 4 x fresh IVF tmts. 5th attempt at Lister Hospital gave us Megan on 5 April 2004 with a very straightforward pregnancy and labour. Attempt number 6 to start hopefully September 2007!

Hi Lisa

I'm new too. I start injecting Buserelin on the 28th September so I'm just a few days behind you. I'm having ICSI due to Male factor.

I'm scared and excited at same time, you wait so long to get this far and the thought of it not working is heartbreaking. I'm having reflexology every Friday after work, I find it soooooo relaxing, its my treat since going out on Friday night with the girls means one LARGE glass of red wine and then soda & lime (trying to be good).

Keep posting

Vicki b

I'm a huge supporter of acupuncture and IVF. There was a big German study completed this April that showed the group receiving acupuncture had over 40% higher success rates. The clinic I go to is very traditional and located in a huge hospital. There also happens to a an acupuncturist in the building that the clinic now works with because all of the studies lately. When I talked to my RE about acupuncture, I could tell she had a hard time believing in it, but just because of the success rates alone, she suggests patients give it a try.

I had acupuncture done starting about 2 months before the treatment. I believe the study had patients have a treatment 1/2 hour before ET and a 1/2 hour post ET, though the acupuncturist only does the one before, then one three days later (as soon as bed rest is over). He has only recently started working with the clinic, and already has a huge baby wall of over 30 pictures which I noticed have all been born within the last few months.

I'm 5 weeks now, and am continuing acupuncture every two weeks to help with symptoms, and to help the baby stay put. I think some people shy away from it because it is so unusual, and of course there is the needle issue, but I truly believe it made a difference for me.

Best of luck,
Catherine
