New and seeking advice

Post by mzpotter »

Hello-
I am not sure where to start. I am 27yo and I will hopefully be starting IVF in January; if my body cooperates. I decided to join this site in the hopes that i will be able to keep in contact with others who have gone through IVF or are going through an IVF cycle. My hubby remains supportive but because he is not a woman going through IVF, he doesnt know ho to console me when I get nervous or antsy.

Now my background: I've had issues with ovulation and subsequently getting a period since I was about 18, when I was 22 I was told that I had PCOS. I got married 3 years ago and my husband and I have were trying to concieve for the last 2 years. We recently found out that I had blocked/diseased tubes and our only option for conception would be IVF. Since we've decided to go forward with the IVF, I would like to be informed. I've read almost everything on the net and have books stacked to the ceiling in the house. But I figured that I can learn more from personal experiences.

I have a billion questions but as I said I dont know where to start. If anyone can offer suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
-Jenn Potter

You have come to a great place. Ask all the questions that you would like. The women on these boards are absolutely fabulous.
I commend you for trying to find all your answers before you begin. I went into it completely blind.
I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming IVF.

Wow, I have almost the exact same story! I am 24, married for 3years, TTC for about 2, recently found out I had to do IVF due to blockage in the tubes. Never thought I'd have a baby this way, but my doctor said I'm a great candidate for invitro because i'm so young with healthy eggs.
I took my first BCP pill today...I have my injections class on Jan3rd...I think i am mostly afraid of the injections and the side-effects (mood swings and stuff :(

The one thing I'd recommend if Accupuncture. I found that it really relaxes me and studies have shown that it really helps with IVF. The accupuncturist I'm going to was recommended to me by my RE. They do accupuncture at the hospital right after the embryo transfer and it's really supposed to increase chances.

How far along are you in your cycle now?

Best of luck! :)
