How many did you transfer? How did you decide?

Post by LostGirl »

How many embryos did you transfer? I ask because on Monday we are going to decide how many of the 7 fertilized eggs to transfer back into me. I am worried to transfer 3. But my husband seems keen to to give us the best chance of coming out of this cycle with one or two kids.

what did you think? how did you make this choice???

help...

Hey lostgirl--

I also had a difficult time deciding how many I will transfer once I get to that point. I haven't made a solid decision, but I think I am going to wait until we see how the embies do. If they get to blasts then we will probably only transfer two. But if they are transferred on Day 3 then I think we will do 3. I have mentally prepared myself for triplets, so I will be okay with either one. My RE said that they usually only like to transfer 2 if they get to blasts because how high their success rate is with blasts. It is a difficult decision. I think that 3 babies are better than none! I am one to always think what if--and I would hate to look back and say what if we would have transferred 3 instead of 2?? Good luck with your decision!

Hello lostgirl,

I transferred 3 on Friday, December 27th. I really didn't have much option the embriologist walked in the room and showed pictures of the embryo, stated this if 4 that we unthawed these 3 we are going to transfer and we'll destroy the other one. So, I said okay "fearfully".

My DH is a road driver so he was not there at the transfer with me and I have not yet told my husband about 3 was transferred.

It was a tough choice but we went with two top grade and one medium grade just to increase our odds. We knew that there was a chance all 3 would take but we knew that three would be my physical and emotional limit. We weren't frightened by the thought of multiples so it wasn't so nerve racking but I'm super happpy now that we have two and only two!
Three would have been CRAZY!!!! Sweet, but crazy!

Follow your heart and your gut and you can't go wrong.
