Desperate times call for desperate measures...advice anyone?

Post by cornybaby »

I got a BFN on 11/22. After stopping progesterone it took 6 days to get AF. I have always been pretty regular at 28 days. So, I expected AF on 12/24. It's now 1/4 and no sign of it! I was planning to start my next IVF attempt this month. I went to RE last Saturday for beta and it was negative. I was sent home with 2cc's of progesterone to inject in order to "induce" AF (injected on 12/29). Still nothing...

If I don't get AF by 1/11, I will have to postpone my IVF until Aug/September because of my work schedule. I had a massage last night, hoping that it would relax me and get the blood flowing. My acupuncturist has told me I probably won't get a period at all since it's so late. HELP!!! Anyone have any secrets? Voodoo? Anything???

I did not ovulate or get my period on my own after my ivf cycle. I injected 2cc of progesterone and my AF came within the week. It did take a while, it may still be on the way. -chriss

Easier said then done. Try to relax and not think about it. I am betting that it will come within the next 2 days...cause it did for Chriss. I know that when I am stressed about AF ...it never cooperates. :?

Thanks TammyS! You won't believe it, but I actually cried. I just laid in my bed and cried on DH's shoulder when I realized it came. Honestly, I think he almost cried too. :( I promised myself no stress this time around, which shouldn't be too hard now that I know what to expect, and now that AF is here...I can finally relax.

Cornybaby, Nicaliw, Magic... we cycled together in November. I will be doing a FET towards the end of March. You too, Nicaliw, right? I hope so. :D :D
Cornybaby... glad to hear AF finally showed up. After my failed IVF, it took some time for AF to appear and when it did, it came back heavily. Then my last AF took an extra week than normal to appear. I'm hoping my body will get back to its usual self soon. I will find out as I am going through this cycle.

Currently, I'm doing a mock cycle. Anyone else ever do this? I hope it helps with my next IVF. My RE wants to measure my lining to make sure we get it right the next time. I'm trying to stay positive for my next IVF. One of my New Year's Resolution is to stay positive and stop feeling sorry for myself.

Here's to BFPs for all of us in 2008!! :D

Ann D.....I really hope I'll be trying again by the end of March. I honestly am a bit confused about the timing of it all. I have to wait for one full cycle before I can begin. I don't know if I should expect it to take 4 weeks after my hcg drops before AF arrives or if it could be less time. Does anyone know? Also, when I do the meds for a FET I'm not sure about the timing, I think its 3-4 weeks of meds before the actual transfer. I don't know. I think it'll be sometime between the end of February and the end of March. I wish I knew. It seems like such a long wait between cycles.....if its the end of march it'll be 5 months since the last cycle.

I hope I can be ready in time to cycle with all of you again.. Annd and Dexter. Cornybaby, you must be so excited, not long for you now. Do you have a tenative date for your ER?

Hi AnnD! Glad to hear from you too! It's like a November reunion! What's a mock cycle? I've never heard of that? Whatever it is, I hope it gives RE a good idea of what needs to be done. One note of encouragement, a friend of mine did her first cycle in Sept with a BFN. They made a lot of changes to her protocol, and on her 2nd try got a BFP. I'm hoping the same will be true for all of us.

Nic - I don't have a calendar yet. The nurse should be calling me tomorrow, but by my calculation from my last cycle, I believe my ER will be sometime between 2/18 and 2/20. Fingers crossed, anyway... :D

Hi Cornybaby!! From what I know a mock cycle is an artificial cycle using hormonal stimulation to see how the medications affect my lining. Four times throughout my cycle my RE will measure my lining through ultrasounds, check my hormone levels through blood work and adjust my medications accordingly. My RE says he wants me to do this so that he can have better control of my lining in hopes to get a BFP on our next IVF.

Nicaliw- I'm going to do a FET as well and don't know how long I will be taking medications. I know that I will be put on BCP, but not sure what else and for how long. I know what you mean about the wait between treatments. I'm thinking it's okay to wait because it allows are bodies to get back to normal. I was actually thinking about doing the FET in February. However, with work, it would actually work out better in March and my RE recommends that I choose I time that will be the least stressful for me. I have 8 frozen embies and will be thawing 5 of them in hopes that 4 will survive. (The RE wants to transfer 4 since we transferred 3 the lat time.) I just have to learn to let time be my friend and be patient.

Good luck to you both on your next journeys through IVF. :D :D
