Can implanting 1 embryo really work?

Post by mommykjo »

I am really torn right now as to what to do. We are to start injections in a couple weeks and I am so worried about how many embryos to implant. I really do not want twins, as wonderful as two babies would be. We have four children already and I only want one baby at a time. Is there anyone here that only implanted one and resulted in a good pregnancy in the end? I really only want to implant one, but also look at the cost of doing over if it does not work the first time around. Oh, by the way, I had my tubes tied and they are not able to repair them, so IVF is our only option.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi there,

Thank you so much, I also just got off the phone with my Dr. and he also gave me hope. He said our chances are good, but of course, not 100% by any means, but we are planning of freezing the rest so we have them ready if we need to do it again. I guess I would rather risk doing it again than having twins and not having time for the other kids we already have. But thanks again for giving me some hope, it is appreciated. I was starting to think that it was just a waste of money to just use one, but we are going to do that and see where that leads us.

I also want to give you a big "GOOD LUCK" and also will pray you have a wonderful healthy pregnancy and baby. I'm sure you will. Do you have other children also, or 1st pregnancy all together? Anyway, take care of that baby. (smile)

hi mommy and welcome to the board!!

i've seen one embryo being implanted here before and it working and think its a very good idea if you really dont want twins.

having said that, i was 21 when i started IVF (i'm now nearly 23) with nothing wrong with me (male factor infertility), we had 2 grade A emryos put in first time and 2 grade A embryos put in second time and as you can see, it worked for us second time with a singleton. (fingers crossed as i still dont take anything for granted). so thats the other side too.

whatevery you decide, best of luck!!!!!!!
