Am I supposed to get morning sickness?

Post by tryw8 »

I'm in week 9. I'm worried that I haven't experienced any signs of "morning sickness". The only thing I've gotten is that my breast are really tender and "firmer".

There have been instances when I'm smelling rice cooking, it doesn't smell too good. Cooked pork, poultry, beef the day of ... I'm okay with it but if I reheat it for lunch the day after, it sure smells bad to my nose.

Am I being overly worried?

Pregnancy symptoms vary so much from person to person. I too have had hardly any nausea, just a few days at around 6 - 7 weeks. My bbs (well nipples) were on fire for a couple of days really early but other than that the worst thing for me has been that I keep catching colds. I know its worrying but just count yourself as one of the lucky ones.

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy!! This is my 3rd pregnancy & I have never had any morning sickness or nausea. There are somethings I like & dislike more at this time but I have never thrown up at all in my 3 pregnancies. Out of all the things we worry about, believe me, this should be the last thing you should be worrying about. It's a blessing you don't have those symptoms, as as they can be quite a pain! Be happy & enjoy your pregnancy :)

hi,

congratulations.

every pregnancy and every person is different. i had no morning sickness in fact i had no pregnancy symptoms at all, i had to keep on doing HPT just to make sure i really was Pg, if it wasn't for my scans i think i would have gone out of my mind worrying about not feeling Pg. i didn't even get a bump until around 26 weeks and wasn't even that big at the end.

don't worry about not feeling sick just think yourself luky and enjoy your pregnancy, it goes so quick!

good luck.

I did not have morning sickness with my first, but this time around I now know what MS is. Be glad that you are not going to experience this and enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy!

Thank you squeezan, gori, kia1973, Sher8 for all of your replies. I guess that since this is my first pregnancy, I wanted to experience everything that the book says.

I'll keep checking in at this forum. I have a blood draw and another u/s on 1/25.

Starting at week 9 or 10, I experienced more smell aversions ... I also had food (meat, fish) aversions from about week 7 or so...

and one time, at around week 6, I got sick..so I read up on how to avoid throwing up...lots of carbs, so I ate pasta, can keep MS at bay (for me)...
also, I ate cereal (TOTAL) with a banana first thing in the morning...

My smell aversions mostly went away by week 14-15...

One thing: I HATE to throw up, even did as a kid, so I think I held things back a LOT just so I did not have to... :o

These days? I do dash out of restaurants from time to time due to food smells...then again, i've ALWAYS had a sensitive nose...just more so now with things...
CONGRATULATIONS! Enjoy NOT being sick...
