Question on tests

Post by DonnaF »

I wondered if anyone could give me any information on what tests they have had done. I know that apart from the normal routine tests, they can test for NKC and things like that.

I am interested because after my recent failed 2nd attempt, I don't want to throw away money if I can help it and if there are any tests that can be done which may determine why my embryos aren't enbedding, I am intersted in having them done.

Also, I have heard about an injection call LIF, has anyone used this before?

Thanks a lot,

Donna
XXXX
Question on tests

Post by beckym »

Hi Donna

I was very sorry to hear about your -ve result. I'm a returner to this site - I cycled with Traci, Kirsty C and Helen G back in feb/march for my first ICSI which was -ve. I have now transferred to the ARGC and apart from not letting you start until your hormones are right (via hormone profile blood tests - they wouldn't let me start last month but this month I'm ok) they also do a mid-cycle scan before you start and I am having a hysteroscopy on Saturday to check whether there are any polyps or scar tissue in the lining of the womb which might prevent the embies embedding. At first I was quite bolshy about not having this done as it is quite expensive (about £1000 privately) but they were insistent that it would increase the chances as they can remove any polyps during the procedure and luckily my medical insurance is picking it up - apparently under most insurances you can claim for the investigative costs into infertility which is what this is - wish I had known this before - you can probably get a hysteroscopy on the NHS as well if you haven't got insurance - ask your doctor. I have had a look at lots of the american IVF websites and a hysteroscopy is routine before they start IVF over there. hope this helps. haven't heard about a LIF injection. What's NKC? beckym

Question on tests

Post by Nikola »

Hi Donna and Becky (welcome back - I remember you cycling last time - I did my first tmt in March/April)

I had a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy before starting the tmt. That is when they found I had v.bad endo - I hadn't had any other symptoms and would never have known. During the op they lasered away as much endo so I was as ready as possible for my tmt.

I had these tests done on NHS but we are now private patients for IVF. I'm about to find out if my second tmt has worked, if not, I would like to consider the chromosome and NKC tests too.

Good luck to both of you

love nikola.xx
