FSH LEVELS INFO PLEASE

hi all,

can i please pick your brains???

A friend of mine went for her consultation to start IVF and has had some shattering news that her FSH levels are 22 and she is starting the menopause.....does anyone know what level is considered the start of the menopause and what is the cut off point ivf treatment??

any info on this will be of so much help.

i am not exactly sure what the fsh is for the start of menopause- i can tell you however that i am 40 and when my fsh was tested for the 1st time at 40yr old my RE wanted it below 10..........mine was 6.8

Hiya,

I think it needs to be tested again, as fsh levels can fluctulate (Spelling!!) i have a friend who one month was at 22 and the following month she was at 9 - then nxt mth was back up to a 12 - so its best to get it tested again!
My friend was also told her eggs were buggered because of her fsh leval, so they gave her one cycle of IVF and gave her lots of drugs - she produced 6 eggs (altho just the one fertalized but was a good grading and a cell x 6) she does her test on Monday - its never too late to give up hope, get ur friend to ask for another test (out of curiosity, what day did she have the level taken - as its meant to be on day 2 or 3 of her period!)

i have read that acupuncture will reduce FSH levels, deb (my friend) will give anything a go if it will help her.
