More March IVF Sisters

Post by maineknitter »

Hello Ladies,
I was going to jump on the March/April thread, but there are so many of us out there that I thought I might try to start a new one. Anyone want to join me?

I'm waiting for my AF end of this week and hope to start BCP later next week, after I get all the necessary blood work done. I'm guessing IVF will occur the last week of March??

I've also started acupuncture and have had three sessions. Didn't realize the needles went in your ear!!

Hi Maineknitter!

Looks like you and I are on the exact same schedule! I'm waiting for AF to start this week, and will start Lupron later this month. I'm guessing my ER/ET will also be sometime the last week of March or first week of April.

I have also started acupuncture and am going for my 6th treatment today. I'm half-skeptical, half-hopeful about it...but at the very least it's very relaxing, so that can't hurt.

Thanks for starting the thread!

Hi girls,

I seem to be almost the same as the both of you!!!! Waiting for period which is due in 6 days. Funny how during IVF we pray for it and the rest of the time hate having it!

Hope to get to know you both and hope more join us!
Jessica

Hi Jes,

I know what you mean about the love/hate relationship with AF! IVF sure is a crazy ride :)

Seems like everyone in Maryland goes to Shady Grove, but I am going to the Johns Hopkins Fertility Center. I work at JHU and my insurance requires that I use them. I think they're pretty good; I really like my RE especially - he's a great combination of being really sharp and knowledgeable (he's an MD/PhD and is very involved in research) but also very approachable and easy to talk to. In addition, their office is only about 10 minutes from where I work, so the monitoring checks aren't too much of a hassle.

Hoping that AF comes soon for both of you!

So many of us going through at the same time. How fun! I should be starting AF today (only time I'm ever excited to get AF!)

I'll start BC today when I start AF and Lupron should follow next week. My protocol will be Gonal F and Menopur. What is everone else's?

After reading the posts, I guess I will be the only non-acupuncture person. I tried it a few weeks ago, but just couldn't get into it. I think it caused me more stress having them put in, than any possibility of relieving stress. ha!

I keep praying the 3rd IVF will be a charm! Tons of baby dust to us all! :D

Here we go...

AF started yesterday, I'm off to the clinic today for monitoring. I should start Lupron in a couple of weeks. My protocol will be Follestim and Menopur, same as last time. If all goes according to plan, my ER should be the last week of March.

As glad as I am to get this started, I have been a little stressed this week. It's funny, the medical part of this is not what really bothers me; I've never been one to be afraid of needles or procedures. It's the lack of control that drives me nuts. At least this time I feel like I know what to expect.

Cheryl, it seems like acupuncture is either one of those things you like or hate. I find it very relaxing, but still am a bit skeptical whether it's going to help or not - I just figure it can't hurt. The acupuncturist I'm working with did help a co-worker of mine, though - she hadn't had period in over a year and got it after her 4th treatment with him. She was pregnant 5 months later!

Hope all of you are doing well :)

Hi Grey, Jessica, and Cheryl! So very nice to meet all of you :) That's great that's we're all so close with our cycles. I started AF on Friday the 22nd, and started the BCP on Sunday the 24th.

Grey, i now exactly what you mean about the control thing!! I had my whole schedule mapped out for the month..bcp for two weeks, start the lupron..bla bla..then retrieval/transfer end of March. Now the nurse tells me i might have to see the doc again (i have an appt. on the 20th), before i can start any meds! arrrr! :x i hung up the phone and started bawling then and there. i'm so sick of waiting for this to happen that i want it to happen now! of course, after a couple hours i realized i was being overly stressed for nothing. two more weeks really won't make any difference at all.

i'm still waiting for my results of all my bloodwork (had that done the 23rd) and i have my sonohyterogram on the 4th. so i know that doc appt. for the 20th is just so he can have a second to review all my records, see if everything is okay, then say..'ok, lets start.' but it bugs me that i know he could do that before hand...and maybe he will....see?? i get all worked up over nothing!! hahaha

SO ANYWAY.. i know i'll be trying GonalF. i had follistem with the IUI's, so thought we might try something different. not sure what the others will be.

Grey and Jess, are you guys taking herbs with your acupuncture? i was, but then my doc said he didn't want me too, so i stopped when my AF arrived.

Oh my, Maineknitter, you don't want me to get started on my control issues :) The one thing that helps a little this time is knowing what to expect - I know how I react to the meds, when IVF appointments will/won't interfere with work, etc. Even though I'm still not in control, at least I feel more comfortable and confident with what I'm doing.

I'm not doing herbs with my acupuncture. Even though my acupuncturist recommended herbs, I just didn't feel like it was a good idea. Even though I m/c'ed last time, IVF did work, so obviously the protocol I was on was a good one for me. I didn't want to do anything that might upset that. If I run out of insurance-paid IVF cycles (this is #2 for me, and 3 are paid for) I might think about trying herbs. The wife of a good friend of DH got pregnant just by using them.

Is this IVF #1 for you Maineknitter?

Yup, first IVF for me. Tried three cycles of IUI with follistem with no luck. :? But glad I did because i know how i respond to the meds and know what to expect.

i'm a little frustrated on how long this is all taking :x . seems like everyone on these forums and people i know jump into the process fairly quickly. my last iui was in december, and i had to wait until february for my consultation, now i might not be able to start my meds till the 24th! arrr! i'm on my first week of pills now...

i was taking herbs, but stopped when my period started. the doc didn't think it was a good idea because he didn't know exactly what was in them.

well, calm and peaceful thoughts to all of you! Jess, let us know when AF arrives and cheryl and grey let us know when you start the lupron.

hi maineknitter - want to wish you all the best for your 1st ivf - it is a waiting game. If it is any help to you, I had my last cycle in july and for various (all ivf) related reasons I've been waiting ever since to get the green light to cycle again, which I hope will be in april. Nine long months - I could have had a baby in that time, if only I could without the help of ivf..Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to this process. think positive and you'll be cycling before you know it. Four more weeks isn't too long to wait. I'm sure you've waited longer in your life for a lot less.
best of luck on your journey. xx Amy

Hi steph! welcome!

well ladies, i've had a wrench thrown in my works here. little family crisis going on, so i decided to postpone IVF  there is just so much stress going on that i don't want it to affect my success rate. we'll probably put it off for a month or two. it's killing me, but i know it's for the best.

just got my day 2 FSH back and it's a bit high too. 12. Anyone have a day 2 FSH and know what their level is? great. guess i'm getting old...darnit! i believe it means reduced ovarian reserve.

So where is everyone??
