Hello,
I;m new to the boards and currently going through my first IVF.
I wanted to know your opinion about the Protocol my doc put me on:
I'm on Cycle day 4 today and because I have a genetic blood clotting issue (factor V Leiden) I cannot go through a long Lupron Protocol (I can NEVER again be on BCPs since they cause clots). So for now I take 150 IU of Gonal-f at night and 75IU of Menopure in the morning. I'm going for a US and BW on Thursdayto see what my follies are up to.
I'm worried that this is the protocol that will not produce a lot of eggs since it's the shorter version.
Any suggestions? This is my 1st IVF so I'm very nervious.
Oh, I forgot to mention I was also prescribed 5 pills of something called prednesone and 10 pills of an antibiotic as well as 7 Centrotides and 2 HCG shots.

Thanks again!
I think the "short" protocol produces just as many follicles as the "long protocol". At least I have never heard otherwise. We use the short protocol almost in almost all cycles.
However, the use antagonists (like your Cetrotide) is relatively new compared to agonists (like Lupron). Doctors are more familiar with the older long protocol, and it's usually cheaper too (the antagonists tend to be expensive).
