I'm new here...just had my transfer

Post by MyBoyParker »

Hi everyone, I guess I should start by introducing myself. My name is Tammy, and I have a little boy named Parker who just turned 3. He is our little IVF miracle. We did our first IVF in June 2004, and we had 2 embryos put in, and 1 took, which was Parker! We just did our second round on Thursday! They put in 2 embryos, and now I'm just praying and keeping my fingers crossed.

I was wanting to talk to others who have gone through the same thing. My doctor told me that the chances of this working are about 30%, so it's kind of discouraging. :( How many of you have done it a second time, with frozen embryos?? Did it work the first time? How many rounds did you have to do?

And also, my Dr. had me on bed rest for 48 hrs. I could walk around a little, but he wanted me laying around for the most part. But then a friend of mine who went through IVF was told that getting your blood flowing a little will help the embryos, and NOT to lay around all day. What have you heard? What did you do?

I'm following my Drs orders.......I know I'm being silly, but I'm so paranoid that any movement will knock them loose, and they won't stick!! LOL

I would love to talk with anyone else who's been through this. Thanks!!!

Good Morning...

I didn't do a FET.. but I did give myself 2 very lazy days. I would get up for the bathroom, to get food or let my dogs out. But then it was back to the couch or bed for me. I watched movies, read magazines. Anything that would make me calm and happy. It worked for me.. but we all know it's not just what we do that plays a big role in this. Take it easy.. as easy as you can with a 3 year old around. Also, I didn't and still won't lift anything over the weight of a gallon of milk. I'm probably being overly cautious.

*HUGS* Good luck to you

Hi Tammy- Welcome! I think that all doctors say different things about activity after IVF...My doctor didn't really say what to do so I took it easy for a couple days the first time I did IVF and I have a miracle son from that...I too am working on my first FET right now and will have the transfer on hopefully April 24. If you'd like, you can join us on a thread here that I started called "Anyone else trying for #2..." Just curious, did your doctor say why your chances are 30%? A FET does not lower your chances that much I didn't think. Wishing you the best and will be thinking +++++++++ thoughts for you.

Laura, my DR. told me that my chances were only 30% because they were frozen embryos. But my Embryologist seemed to be more optimistic. He actually unfroze 4 embryos, and the 2 we didn't put in, he cultured over the weekend. They lasted 2 days, but he said they were very healthy, and was happy they lasted THAT long. He said that the embryos that they put in were the healthier ones. So he said 30% was a little low..........I guess there are so many factors.

Hey Tammy ~

My dr also put me on 48 hrs of bedrest. I would get up to eat, shower, go to the bathroom, take care of my dogs and cats. I did go to my parents for dinner one of the nights and sat around (didn't lay). Try not to overanalyze it too much, the extra stress isn't good for your babies!! It sounds like you are doing great.

Take care!
