Help - positive but not as dark as test line

Hi all

I have just discovered that I am pregnant naturally! It is now two-three days since my period should have started and the line on the test is only about half the colour of the test line - is this bad? Am I not producing enough HCG? Is it ectopic (I did have blocked tubes which have now cleared). I mean the test is clearly positive but not as dark as it should be. I would be really grateful for your thoughts as my head is well on it's way to bonkersville! Love Vicky

How Funny! I saw a doctor (not mine as couldn't get appt) and he just asked if I'd done a test and I said yes and explained that it was not as dark as test line but he just accepted that I was pregnant and has referred me for an early scan (due to tubes and additional risk of ectopic). Oh well - I guess I'll have to wait for scan to find out - I've just got to wait to be contacted. Thanks for replying. Vicky

Congratulations!

I think the line is not as dark as you expect because of how early you are testing. I did a HPT the day after my blood test with Jenna. My HCG level was 52 the day before and my HPT was only a faint line a day later (Clearblue). With my current pregnancy I was over a week late before I did a test (Obviously didnt believe I could possibly be pregnant) and it was a dark line then.
Hope your scan puts your mind at rest. My GP was great and got me booked for an early scan at 6 weeks because I was convinced the pregnancy couldnt be viable.

Wow - congratulations yourself! I am positive some sort of self healing or fertility boosting occurs after you've been pregnant once. I have been pregnant naturally three times now since I had Ollie after my fifth attempt at IVF but unfortunately have miscarried both. I think & hope you're right about me testing too early. I have managed not to do one for 24hours now and will wait till Saturday before trying again. Thanks for the encouragement I will let you know what happens. I still haven't heard from the hospital yet. Oh well. Love Vicky

My last IVF HPT was taken one day after AF was due and my line was only 1/4 of the darkness of the control window and I was infact pregnant with twins and my HCG the next day was 250! The only test I got a dark line on was First Response, which continued to get darker.

The line will start off lighter if you do your test earlier. I did one like 2 weeks after I took the original and the test line was much lighter than the result line. You just need to wait for the HCG levels to come up.
