new to this and haven't got a clue! help please!!!!!!!!!

hello all. well here's my story. sept 2007 had ectopic pregnancy with right tube removed. was told other tube working fine and was safe to ttc again after 3 months. april 2008 (1 week ago) another ectopic pregnancy in left tube, tube removed. we have no children and i am 27yrs old my dh 28 yrs old. what do i do???? doctor mentioned ivf but haven't a clue where to start. feel so angry with the hospital for sayin tube is working fine then said tube was torn already when they opened me up! it was waiting to happen! they should have done the dye test on my other tube when i had first ectopic in my opinion! anyway not sure if i'm gonna complain because i am not at all satisfied with this. any advice would be greatly appreciated. many thanks kelly xx

Hello, I am not an expert on this matter, but a very close friend of mine just went through IVF for the exact same reason her tubes were destroyed, both of them.

The first thing I would do is find out if you have insurance coverage for IVF. If you do great, if you don't search for a local reproductive specialist. I don't know where you live, so I don't know what your exact options are regarding finding a good specialist. Schedule a consult with the specialist (it will cost you unless you have insurance). IVF is a long process, there is a fair amount of testing that has to be done in the beginning stages, then most docs put you on birthcontrol pills for a month, then you start lupron, then you start the actual stimulation drugs. You are young, you have a great deal in your favor. The simple fact that you have been able to get pregnant twice naturally is a sign that your eggs are good and your husbands sperm is swimming. IVF is a numbers game. They stimulate your ovaries to grow as many eggs as your body will allow, the younger you are the more eggs usually. These eggs are removed and fertalized. Then in 3 to 5 days the doc will put a couple of embryo's back into your uterus. Then you say lots of prayers during the 2 week wait to find out if you are pregnant.

I just finished my first cycle of IVF for unexplained infertility and a hx of miscarriage. We paid out of pocket, so we were really praying. Today I am 15 days post embryo transfer, and my HcG level is 1053, so I am definately pregnant. Not with out some complications though, spot bleeding being the main one. That has subsided now, and I have stopped getting up every 3 hours in the middle of the night to check to see how much blood.

Kelly, this is a great place to come for support. You sound like an excellent IVF candidate. I also had an ectopic with a tube removed as a result. I went straight to IVF after that. Now I have a little girl.

Like Angelique said, cost is a big factor with IVF. It's expensive and insurance doesn't always cover it. There are clinics that offer money-back programs if you don't get pregnant. If you're new to all of this, that probably sounds crazy. I was blown away when I first started learning about the process. Feel free to post any questions here. And welcome!
