Hi everybody,
I'm sorry, but I would like to ask a very stupid question. Although I have had 4 IVFs before - they haven't been successful. Now it is my 5th attempt but I don't know how to calculate the pregnancy weeks with IVF!?
I had retrieval on March 25th and transfer on March 30th. Could somebody teach me to calculate? My first ultrasound is on Monday, April 28th. It is really so difficult to wait, every minute seems to me as long as the whole day. What should I excpect from the first ultrasound?
April11-
I was told to count the retrieval day as the day of conception...so I believe that's where/when you start counting your weeks.
Good luck to you!!

On the left hand side of this screen under the title "resources", click on pregnancy calculator. Enter your egg retrieval date and click on it, it will tell you the following:
due date - December 15,2008 and you are 6w4d. You will probably see the heartbeat at your first sonogram but some people don't, so don't worry if you don't. Congrats!
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP. When I did my transfer, I was told that the embryos were about two weeks old. And at the time of my first u/s, I was @ week 7. The appointment was really quick. My DH and I didn't see much only that it look like a peanut. That exactly what DH said. We didn't get to see the heart beat until week 10.
At week 7, I was already released to my OB/GYN to follow up w/ weekly appointments. Don't get me wrong. My RE and OB/GYN is the same doctor/person. He spends his time equally at both clinics.
Just relax and continue to find answers to your questions and support at this board. Just like I have.

Thank you so much that you found time to answer and support me. It really helps to go through all of this. I have also discovered those calculators, but I am still confused.
Today I had my first ultrasound. I'm not sure, but I'm very scared that I will receive bad news soon. Today I actually didn't get the clear answer. The doctor saw an embryo but she wasn't able to see the development inside the emryo. (I'm sorry because of my English, it is not my native language)The doctor also wasn't 100% sure that the embryo is empty, while as she said, they just got a new ultrasound equipment and the black and white contrast are maybe not fixed yet properly. Anyway, she said that the embryo is 4 weeks old (the pregnancy calculator gives another result), but she is not sure about the development inside the embryo.
I think the HCG level that I have is also not so good, even so it raises properly. On Friday it was 5822 and today 11853. I will have my next ultrasound on Friday. Now I began to understand what it really means TO WAIT! I think it is one of the most difficult thing to do all the things in the same time: to wait, to hope and to be prepared for the negative answer.
I would be happy if there is somebody who can share her story with me.
i also had a retrieval on 25th March and transferred on 30th March. I did a blood test on 11th and got a BFP. I am due for U/S on 10th May. Because i live in a different country from the clinic the RE i amnow consulting said to wait till 6Weeks for U/S instead of 4. I am anxious because other than the BFN i have no signs wahtsoever. Can anyone share with me what to expect. i am going out of mind with worry
Your embryo is/was only 4 weeks old...however when calculating your due date you go back an extra 2 weeks to the first day of your last period. However, since we did IVF you just go by the chart that the girls mentioned for your due date. I am 16 weeks today...my baby is only 14 weeks old from conception. I hope that helps.
Good Luck today at your ultrasound.
