Hello everyone!....I'm starting my IVF meds tomorrow.....I am overweight and have slight asthma......I'm so nervous about taking the meds and getting pregnant having these issues.....if any of you are overweight and or have asthma and have gone through IVF, can you share your experiences.. :P

Thanks,

marianna,
I am overweight, BMI is 31 but I don't have asthma. I have taken all the meds for IVF and didn't have a problem. I guess this would be a question for your RE. I am sure if the RE thought it would be a big problem then they probably wouldn't have recommended you for IVF. That is just my 2 cents.

hi marianne, I don't share the same problems, so I can't share any experiences that would be helpful to you. But I can tell you that I would be really surprised if asthma would have any effect on your IVF course. Are their drug interactions you are concerned about? From a lung standpoint, it shouldn't matter at all.

What did your doc say about how your weight could effect IVF? I know their are many women around here who struggle with weight, so I'm sure you'll get lots of support. Weight is such a tough issue and so emotional. IVF is such an emotional rollercoaster it doesn't help.

I wish you all the best on your journey.

Hi Marianna,

I'm a man so I can't offer advice, but I can offer support. Work with your doctor and medical team to make sure you're doing well every step of the way. Also, ask a lot of questions of the group here. They're great.

Oh, my wife is pregnant and Marianna is on the short list of names if it's a girl. I think it's beautiful. Ever heard of Marianna Hill?

I am not overweight but I have asthma, my Doc put me on pulmicort and albuterol as needed said that those wouldn't hurt the pregnancy. Pregnancy makes asthma better in 30% of people and worse in 30%, same on the rest so talk to your doctor and get you on a good preventive before you get pregnant. I actually lost weight on IVF meds so you should be ok.
