Embryos with granulation??

Post by ELH073 »

Hi there,

I just finished my first round of IVF with ICSI. I'm 34. Everything went perfectly. I got 27 eggs, 17 mature, 12 fertilized. We were feeling hopeful until the transfer yesterday when they said that I only had 4 5-6 cell and 3 8 cell embryos - all with granulation. And that this granulation is a "red flag".

Doc suggested transferring the 3 8 cells back but he didn't seem too optimistic. So that's what we did and I'm feeling decidedly negative about the whole thing.

Has anyone heard of this? What does this mean?

Thanks so much!

Hi ELH073

http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/co ... 15/11/2390
This web site explains the effect of granulation on positive outcomes in pregnancy.

There are many women on this site who have gotton pregnant with supposed "low grade" embryos.
Wishing you loads of luck and best wishes for your BFP!
Me 37 DH 37
IVF / ICSI Jul 07: BFP m/c 5.5 weeks
IVF #2 Gonal-F 225 May 22, ER 5 June: 5 eggs

Thanks cwrj00. I found that article too, but I was looking for something a bit less clinical... I still have no idea what this means. My doctor didn't say they were low grade, so that was news to me.

Has anyone heard of this? Anyone pregnant with low grade embryos?
