Singleton or Twins? Please share your experience!

Hi,
I have been reading alot of your stories here, and can feel for everyone in your ups and downs. It was too emotional for me to post earlier. I just completed my 3rd IVF/ICSI this time with a BFP! I am so excited and so nervous and can not believe it is true! Especially after so many disapointments.

I went in for my first ultrasound and they UTech found 2 sacs. 1 had a strong heartbeat and was said to be 6weeks 3days. The 2nd had cardiac movement, fetal pole and yok sac at 6 weeks 0 days but the tech could not find the heartbeat. She said it could be early to detect the heartbeat. The RE was not optimistic and actually quite negative on the 2nd embryo. My Obgyn said that it may be just to early and alot of development happens in such short of time during this early development stage. I am going back next Wed 7/2 for a followup ultrasound. I am still praying for both and will knownmore next week.

Anyone have a simular experience? Please share! Thank you!

Hi Marmey - I have experienced the same thing as you! pretty much we went through IVF cause of my Endometriosis issues and got pregnant on our first try..

we went for our 1st u/s I believe I was 6 weeks pregnant by then and we saw two sacs but one had a heartbeat and the other didn't - RE said the second one is on it's way out and that more than likely it's not going to make it..

So we were lil sad but happy cause we still had one that was healthy - I went for another u/s and they saw both sacs and both had heart beats!!!

RE was shocked and said well looks like you guys might have twins but there is still 50% chance that it could go either way - we were really happy!!

Now, I'm 13w4d pregnant with twins!! and they are doing good

in other words there is still a possibility you may end up with TWINS just be prepared - if not you still have one

HI Sameera,
Thank you for sharing your positive story. I have put my mind at being really happy and thankful for the one, and feel blessed as I have been trying for over 3 years. If I go to the ultrasound on Wed and they see two heartbeats well then wonderful but I am going to be positive and happy for the one! No more disappointments!

Just 1 day can make all the difference. My doc refuses to do the ultrasound before 6 weeks 5 days, because anything earlier is potentially too early. I'm betting you will have 2 HB's when you go back, since everything else is there. Good Luck, keep us posted.
